Three GOP Congressmen Voted to Pass the Democrats’ Radical “Equality Act”

Three House Republicans voted with Democrats to pass the radical Equality Act in the House of Representatives yesterday.

The three lawmakers who voted for the bill were Reps. Tom Reed (R-N.Y.), John Katko (R-N.Y.), and Brian Fitzpatrick, (R-PA). They joined over 200 Democrats in support of the legislation, with the bill passing in a 224-206 vote.

The legislation, as Charlie Kirk describes it, is “one of the most dangerous bills written in the last 100 years.”

Breitbart recently outlined some of the most egregious aspects of the bill:

1. The bill would end the federal legal recognition of complementary male and female sex in favor gender identity.

2. The bill would eliminate the traditional right to privacy of women and girls in public facilities, in favor, instead, of gender identity.

3. The Equality Act would eviscerate women’s and girls’ sports.

4. The Equality Act would be used to mandate school curricula that affirm and promote sexual orientation and gender identity views.

5. The Equality Act would be used to remove custody rights from parents who refuse to have their minor children undergo transgender medical interventions and procedures.

6. Since the Equality Act exempts itself from the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, religious schools, hospitals, and adoption agencies could face federal sanctions for upholding their teachings with regard to life, sexuality, and marriage under the legislation.

7. The Equality Act’s text that names a form of “discrimination on the basis of pregnancy” would be used to punish healthcare providers who refuse to perform an abortion or to outlaw policies that ban funding for the procedure.

Rep. Katko released a statement on his support of the bill, writing, “Today, I once again supported passage of the Equality Act, a bill that creates a uniform federal standard for preventing discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.

“We stand firmly against discrimination in any form. Throughout my tenure in Congress, we have fought to ensure all are treated fairly before the law, regardless of their gender or sexual orientation.”

The bill is now headed to the Senate where it is likely to be blocked by Republicans as it will need a “filibuster-proof 60 votes to pass.” This means at least 10 Republicans need to support the legislation, which is improbable.

Biden's HHS Pick Supports Cross-Gender Hormones and Sex Change Surgery For Kids

Joe Biden’s HHS pick, Dr. Rachel Levine, supports puberty blockers, cross-gender hormones, and even sex change surgeries for adolescents.

The National Pulse reports:

“For prepubertal children,” Levine said in a 2017 speech at Franklin & Marshall College, “they might present in different ways. They might present at school in the gender they were identified at birth, or they might present as the other gender, or they might be more gender-fluid.” Levine has described children as young as five or six as “knowing” which gender they wanted to be.

Once, however, the child reaches the “young adolescent” stage, Dr. Levine recommends puberty blockers, a practice which Dr. Levine apparently followed at Penn State Hershey Medical Center as Chief of the Division of Adolescent Medicine and Eating Disorders. In speeches, Levine describes prescribing puberty blockers and cross-gender hormone injections to children who expressed anxiety about the natural process of puberty.

Additionally, Levine has expressed doubts about the “controversial” requirement in some standards of medical ethics that patients receive psychological evaluations before undergoing such drastic medical regimens.

The current protocols for gender-dysphoric youth, Levine stated in a 2017 speech, outline a two-step process: the prescription of puberty-blockers during the first stages of puberty, and then, after continued counselling, the introduction of cross-gender hormones between the ages of 14 and 16. Then, around age 18, the patient may undergo surgery. But, as Levine noted, there are sometimes exceptions. In certain instances, Levine has said, surgical procedures may be performed on patients under the age of 18.

This pick for HHS should be questioned thoroughly by senators on both sides of the aisle as sex change surgeries for kids are opposed by a large majority of voters. The long term effects on children from puberty blockers, hormone therapy, and sex changes can leave them with devastating consequences including no longer being able to have children themselves.

Levine has come under fire for how she handled things as the Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Health including forcing Covid-19 hospital patients into nursing homes leading to many deaths. Levine downplayed the criticism saying Covid-19 was already present within the facilities.

Biden HHS Pick Oversaw Disastrous COVID Nursing Home Policy in Pennsylvania

Joe Biden’s pick for assistant Human Health Services (HHS) secretary was responsible for the deadly COVID nursing home policy in Pennsylvania.

Last March, Dr. Rachel Levine, the transgender health secretary of Pennsylvania, directed long-term care facilities to admit new patients who were discharged from hospitals who may have had COVID-19. This was ordered to “to alleviate the increasing burden in the acute care settings.”

As COVID outbreaks ravaged the elderly population in the state, Levine’s own 95-year-old mother had the luxury of being removed from her nursing home and into a “premium hotel.”

“My mother requested and my sister and I as her children comply to move her to another location,” Levine said in a press conference in May. “During the COVID-19 outbreak. My mother is 95 years old. She is very intelligent and more than competent to make her own decisions.”

According to data from the New York Times updated earlier this month, Pennsylvania now ranks second for COVID deaths (9,365) from long-term care facilities in the country, placing the state only behind California, which had 10,134 fatalities. Overall, deaths in Pennsylvania’s long-term care facilities make up 52 percent of all COVID deaths in the state.

Republicans in the state, including State Sen. Doug Mastriano, had called for Levine’s resignation.

“These failings are compounded by being complicit in the virus spreading through our elder care homes, triggered by unscientific and illogical directives, forcing them to readmit COVID-19 patients,” he said. “Let me state this clearly, this order by Secretary Levine is responsible for the deaths of approximately 2,500 of our citizens and displays the gross incompetence of someone unfit for office. The bottom line is Secretary Levine has failed to protect our most vulnerable population.”

In June, Levine defended the nursing home policies put in place and said, “They contracted the virus in the facility. So it doesn’t mean they were bringing it to the facility. The virus was already there.”

Biden released a statement on his nomination of Levine today:

“Dr. Rachel Levine will bring the steady leadership and essential expertise we need to get people through this pandemic — no matter their zip code, race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability — and meet the public health needs of our country in this critical moment and beyond. She is a historic and deeply qualified choice to help lead our administration’s health efforts.”

Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf congratulated Levine today, writing on Twitter, “Dr. Levine has been a wise, calm, and dedicated partner during this pandemic and I couldn’t be prouder of the tireless work she’s done to serve Pennsylvanians. She will be missed, but I know she will be a tremendous leader at @HHSGov.”
