Pennsylvania Teacher Arrested for Grooming, Sexually Abusing Student

A Pennsylvania high school choir teacher was arrested after it was discovered that she was allegedly involved sexually with a female student.

The teacher, Olivia Ortz, 26, was reported to authorities and administrators by her irate husband, who said that she had an inappropriate relationship with a 17-year-old student at the Wilmington Area High School, reports New Castle News.

Her husband, who also worked for the school as a freelancer, found messages on his wife’s iPad after returning from a trip to Florida. He then alerted the principal.

Ortz was suspended on May 9 and a warrant was issued for her arrest on Friday.

Ortz reportedly did not turn herself in and sang at a local concert before doing so on Sunday.

Ortz’s predecessor, music director Jonathan Priano, is also facing charges of sexual misconduct with students.

According to the New York Post, Priano enjoyed tickling students’ feet and had inappropriate relationships with coeds. His case is pending in court.

Ortz’s husband says that investigators have found over 100 messages between his wife and the student, using Spotify’s seldom-used chat function.

The pair had a code word for if anyone were to discover their relationship.

The student would later admit to authorities that she went to her teacher’s home when her spouse was away and that the two had sex on several occasions.

The victim said that Ortz even had her over at her house after her husband had discovered the relationship.

Ortz is being held in the Lawrence County lockup on $150,000 bond and her next hearing is set for May 25.

Priano, who faces 10 counts of sexual assault and two counts of unlawful contact with minors, had a pretrial hearing set for June, reports The Post.
