A Portland police officer was allegedly ambushed and pepper-sprayed by a suspected Antifa member on Sunday who was quickly bailed out of jail.

According to the Post Millennial, while the officer was sitting in his patrol car doing paperwork, suspected Antifa member John B. Russell, 41, came up from behind, smashed the rear window and filled the patrol car with pepper spray then fled in a getaway car.

After a call was put out by the officer, the suspect was apprehended 6 blocks away and found with a cache of riot weapons including throwing knives, slingshot, window break tools, rocks, pepper spray, a laser pointer and other devices taken as evidence.

Unfortunately for civilized society, Russell was bailed out quickly and is back on the streets with and arraignment date set for December 7.

In a press release, Portland police chief Chuck Lovell said, “As police officers, we know that the vast majority of community members who approach and contact us do so with no intention to do us harm. However, attacks like this one remind us all that there is the potential for people to try to take direct violent action against police officers. I applaud the officer for remaining calm and locating the involved subject and thank our investigators for furthering this investigation.”

Our police officers already have incredibly high-risk jobs, where any day they might not come home to their loved ones. These unprovoked attacks, where the suspects are put right back out on the streets, are making it even more dangerous to be a law enforcement officer these days. With nothing being done about the non-stop rioting for months and direct attacks on our police, it sure makes you wonder about the motives of the justice system in Portland.
