Son of Dominican Politician Shot Dead at Texas Gas Station; Three Suspects Sought

The son of a prominent Dominican politician was fatally shot at a Houston gas station on Monday, prompting a police investigation to apprehend the assailants.

The victim, identified as Luis Alfredo Pacheco Rojas, 34, was the son of Alfredo Pacheco, the president of the Chamber of Deputies of the Dominican Republic, Fox reports.

“We have spoken with Mr. Pacheco about his son’s death and advised him detectives continue efforts to determine possible motives for the shooting,” stated the Houston Police Department.

Rojas, known by his alias “El Pikante,” was involved in the music industry in Houston.

The incident occurred as Rojas and two other men were leaving a gas station and entered a black SUV. Shortly after, a Dodge Charger and a Mercedes-Benz approached the SUV, and three individuals opened fire before fleeing the scene.

Rojas succumbed to his injuries at Ben Taub General Hospital, while another victim was hospitalized in critical condition. Alfredo Pacheco expressed grief over his son’s untimely death, thanking friends and colleagues for their support during this challenging time.

“With great regret, I announce the unexpected death of my son LUIS ALFREDO PACHECO ROJAS, who lived outside the country,” posted Alfredo Pacheco. “This fact is currently under investigation.”

Police released surveillance images of the three suspects involved in the shooting as they continue their search. The Dominican Republic’s embassy has been contacted for comment on the matter.
