Sam Elliott Shreds 'Piece of S**t' Western 'Power Of Dog' For Having Gay Themes

Notable Western actor Sam Elliot is furious with a new movie depicting some cowboys in the Old West as gay, because the agenda is the agenda.

The “1883” actor torched Jane Campion’s Oscar-nominated drama “The Power of the Dog” for its “allusions to homosexuality,” The New York Post reported.

“WTF” podcast host Marc Maron asked the actor about the Netflix movie and was met with his scorn.

“You wanna talk about that piece of s**t?” he said.

The actor mentioned a Los Angeles Times ad he saw for the movie that, he said, “talked about ‘the evisceration of the American myth.’ And I thought, What the f***? What the f***? This is the guy that’s done Westerns forever. The evisceration of the American West.”

The 77-year-old said, “That’s what all these f – – king cowboys in that movie looked like,” the Oscar nominee ranted. “They’re all running around in chaps and no shirts. There’s all these allusions to homosexuality throughout the f – – king movie.”

He then spoke about the director who is from New Zealand.

“What the f*** does this woman from — she’s a brilliant director, by the way, I love her work, her previous work — but what the f*** does this woman from down there know about the American West? And why in the f*** did she shoot this movie in New Zealand and call it Montana — and say this is the way it was? So that f***ing rubbed me the wrong way, pal,” he said.

“I just came from Texas where I was hanging out with families — not men — but families,” he said, arguing that the director did not accurately capture cowboy lifestyle.

“Big, long, extended, multiple-generation families that made their living and their lives were all about being cowboys,”he said. “And, boy, when I f – – king saw that [movie], I thought, ‘What the f – – k? Where are we in this world today?’”

“I mean, Cumberbatch never got out of his f***ing chaps. He had two pairs of chaps, a woolly pair and a leather pair,” the actor said. “And every f***ing time he’d walk in from somewhere … he never was on a horse, maybe once, he’d walk into the f***ing house, storm up the f***ing stairs, go lay in his bed in his chaps, and play his banjo. And It’s like, what the f***? What the f***, you know?”

“Where’s the Western in this Western?” he said.

Not surprisingly the woke crowd came for him on Twitter.

“I mean most movies about the American West don’t know anything about the American West including the ones Sam Elliott has been a part of. They erase the presence of anyone who isn’t white or male when the west was mostly built by Indigenous, Black, Mexican & Chinese people,” Shelby County, Tennessee Commissioner Tami Sawyer said in a tweet.

“Sam Elliott just said Power of the Dog is a ‘piece of s**t’ movie because, in part, it has ‘all these allusions to homosexuality.’ Sam Elliott can stuff his homophobia in his mustache and hopefully never work again in Hollywood,” USA Today columnist Michael J. Stern said.

But not everyone was against him.

“Sam Elliott was spot on about that boring POS film ‘Power of the Dog.’ Turned it on expecting Yellowstone. Lasted 10 mins watching Brokeback Mountain meets On Golden Pond. Stop letting foreign leftist female romance screenwriters make cowboy movies,” John Cardillo said.
