White House Press Secretary Jean-Pierre Blasted Online After Claiming SCOTUS 'Roe' Reversal 'Unconstitutional'

A remark by White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre during a press conference on Wednesday left several people scratching their heads while others suggested she take a Civics 101 course.

Jean-Pierre invited renewed criticism during remarks about the U.S. Supreme Court overturning the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision, claiming it was an “unconstitutional” act.

“From day one, when the Supreme Court made this extreme decision to take away a constitutional right, it was an unconstitutional action by them,” she said, Fox News reported.

The press secretary then described abortion as “a right that was around for almost 50 years,” as well as “a right that women had to make a decision on their bodies and how they want to start their families.”

Her remarks echo those of her boss, President Joe Biden, who hinted last month during remarks about an executive order he signed to protect access to abortion in the wake of the SCOTUS ruling.

“Let’s be clear about something from the very start, this was not a decision driven by the Constitution,” said Biden, adding that the court’s conservative majority was “playing fast and loose with the facts.”

Like Biden then, Jean-Pierre took heat online for her blatant misunderstanding of constitutional processes.

Abigail Marone, press secretary for Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., cited what she perceived as Jean-Pierre’s incompetence, writing on Twitter: “It honestly feels cruel to put her on the podium and make her answer questions each day.”

“Come on,” added GOP communications specialist Matt Whitlock.

Nile Gardiner, a contributor to the UK’s Telegraph, described Jean-Pierre’s statement as: “Truly Orwellian disinformation from the Biden White House.”

“Priceless,” added Rep. Dan Bishop, R-N.C.

Conservative opinion leader Graham Allen quipped, “A live look at what a degree from a woke university gets you….”

The Heritage Foundation’s John Cooper noted: “Karine Jean-Pierre just said the Supreme Court’s Dobbs ruling was ‘unconstitutional,’ which is certainly a…unique take.”

Conservative commentator Ian Miles Cheong also did not hold back, writing, “That KJP is a moron isn’t a secret. It’s on full display.”

Jean-Pierre also went on to take a victory lap of sorts after voters in the red state of Kansas rejected a constitutional amendment that would have given authority to the state legislature to regulate abortions.

“In the wake of Dobbs, the president predicted people would turn out in record numbers to reclaim rights stolen from them,” she said.
