Black Lives Matter activist Bree Newsome believes that knife fights are just the norm and that police should not interfere at all. Newsome made the comments in reference to the Makhia Bryant shooting in Columbus, Ohio who was seen on multiple cameras lunging and attacking another woman with a knife.
Newsome said that “Teenagers have been having fights including fights involving knives for eons. We do not need police to address these situations.”
But aren’t knife fights, where one person is in danger of being stabbed by another, exactly the kind of situation that police should show up for?
For Newsome, who defends riots and looting, a knife fight is just no big deal, and the officer’s responsibility wasn’t to the person being threatened with the knife, but to the person wielding it.
“I’m definitely in the camp of defending rioting & looting as a legitimate, politically-informed response to state violence,” Newsome said last week. “I’ve tweeted on this topic many times & I’m always willing to engage people in good faith discussion of why I hold that position.”
Those on Twitter were quick to blast Newsome for her casual defense of knife fights.

Research Shows Major Increase In Murder Rates In Cities Where BLM Protests Occur
Researcher Travis Campbell, an economics PhD candidate at the University of Massachusetts, has found that although police homicides decrease in cities that see heavy Black Lives Matter protests, overall murders see a major increase.
Campbell published his findings in a recent pre-print study examining the impact of BLM protests on police use-of-force incidents.
His analysis, which is still undergoing peer-review, found that cities with BLM protests had 15 to 20 percent fewer police homicides than expected if the protests had not taken place, equating to 300 fewer police killings nationwide over five years.
But, in a revised unpublished version shared with DailyMail.com, Campbell finds that cities with BLM protests also saw a 10 percent increase in murders overall, equaling 1,000 to 6,000 additional murders nationwide.
Campbell said his data suggested that BLM protests result in ‘less police effort and less proactive policing,’ which could explain both the decrease in police killings and the overall increase in murders.
The study, first reported by Vox, shows murders increased in the years following BLM protests even as reports of minor crimes tended to decrease.
Campbell said this trend was a ‘pretty strong indicator of a reduction in the quantity of policing,’ either because fewer crimes are being reported, or police are less likely to make proactive arrests for minor crimes.
This study references the years of 2014 to 2019 and does not take into account the surge in protests that took place in 2020 where major cities across the country saw large increases in murder rates.

Affluent Chicagoans Fleeing Due to Leadership Inability to Calm BLM Violence
Many people, including President Trump himself, noted during their Republican National Convention speeches that Democratic-run cities are experiencing violence and looting, as the leaders whose policies are to blame are safely hidden in privileged areas. However, areas like Chicago have become so bad, affluent neighborhoods are no longer safe and citizens are getting out of dodge.
“Incidents of widespread looting and soaring homicide figures in Chicago have made national news during an already tumultuous year,” writes the Chicago Tribune. “As a result, some say residents in affluent neighborhoods downtown, and on the North Side, no longer feel safe in the city’s epicenter and are looking to move away.”
Liberal leadership has been unsuccessful at subduing violence from the Black Lives Matter’s highjacked movement. With no end of destruction in sight and spontaneous eruptions of violence, while residents say “they understand why protesters and rioters have poured onto the streets of downtown, and some acknowledge that crime is worse in other parts of Chicago” they still want out reports the Chicago Tribune.
Some people “agree with protesters that something systemic needs to be changed” but they “don’t want to wait it out here in the city, fearful of stepping outside at night and hoping for things to maybe get better.” A 30-year-old nurse who lives in the River North area said, “not to make it all about us; the whole world is suffering…but I do think that I’ve never had to think about my own safety in this way before.”
Hopefully, this will be a lesson to Chicagoans and similar cities, that they need to vote out their Democratic leadership who refuse to stand up to the violent protesters and also refuse to accept help and assistance offered directly from President Trump. 60-year-old Neil Spun has lived in Chicago for over half his life and is deeply conflicted about moving. A state worker, Spun said “there have been rights before, and looting. It just seems to me now that the city isn’t doing anything about it. I don’t see this getting any better, and so I’d like to leave.” Residents would be far better off voting in new leadership instead of succumbing to liberal policies that change their communities beyond recognition.
