Police Arrest Lauren Boebert's Ex-Husband After Reported Altercation

Police have arrested the ex-husband of Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) following a report of an altercation between the two of them last weekend that may have turned physical at one point.

The two were at a restaurant in Slit when the reported altercation took place. Police said at the time they were investigating the incident, CBSColorado reported.

“Garfield County Jail records confirm he was arrested and then released. The total bond was set at $2,500,” CBSColorado reported. “Jayson Boebert was the one who called police following the restaurant incident and claimed he was a victim of domestic violence during the altercation.”

The couple have four sons together. They were married for 20 years.

Previous reports said that Lauren Boebert physically struck her ex-husband in the face during a heated altercation at a restaurant near Denver on Saturday night.

The Denver Post reports that the congresswoman allegedly punched ex-husband Jayson two times at the Miner’s Claim restaurant in Slit.

Police Chief Mike Kite confirmed that an investigation into the incident was active and ongoing. Reports said police arrived on the scene following the alleged altercation, but no arrests were made at the time. The congresswoman has denied that she struck her ex-husband.

“This is a sad situation for all that keeps escalating and another reason I’m moving,” Boebert said in a statement from her campaign manager to the outlet. “I didn’t punch Jason in the face, and no one was arrested.”

“I will be consulting with my lawyer about the false claims he made against me and evaluate all of my legal options,” she added.

Jayson Boebert told police when they arrived on Saturday night that he and his ex-wife were having a tense discussion but said that he did not want to press any charges.

“I don’t want nothing to happen,” he told The Post in a brief phone interview. “Her and I were working through a difficult conversation.”
