Pelosi Says Florida Farmers Need Illegals ‘To Pick The Crops’

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said that farmers in Florida need to hire illegal immigrants to “pick the crops” during a press conference on Friday.

“Right now the best thing we can do for our economy is to have comprehensive immigration reform. We have a shortage of workers in our country and you see even in Florida, some of the farmers and the growers saying why are you shipping these immigrants up north, we need them to pick the crops down here,” Pelosi said, according to the Daily Caller.

“But that doesn’t mean that we don’t recognize our moral responsibility to as well,” she added.

Pelosi made the comments just weeks after Florida Governor Ron DeSantis flew two planes full of illegal aliens to Martha’s Vineyard, a wealthy area in Massachusetts. DeSantis has said that the immigrants in the area went willingly. DeSantis, along with Governors Greg Abbott, and Doug Ducey of Texas and Arizona respectively have been sending illegals to sanctuary cities.

“Everybody was given multiple opportunities to, you know, to voluntarily go or to decide even after receiving meals, accommodations and an opportunity to clean up and get some rest to stay behind if they wanted and some chose to do that. These were people that were in a rough situation, and undoubtedly had their circumstances improved,” one DeSantis official said.

“They were given every opportunity over a multiple-day period to decide if they didn’t want to go on the trip and to go a different direction,” the official said. “Indeed, some of these individuals after a night or two of accommodations chose to stay behind and not go on the trip. During the flights, individuals were given bags with snacks, with water, with other provisions of information taken from the Massachusetts website that talks about benefits that are available in a sanctuary state.”
