Nikki Haley States The Obvious After Losing Another Primary to Trump

Former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley doesn’t seem to have a path to the 2024 GOP presidential nomination, and she finally admitted as much during an interview ahead of her loss to her former boss in Michigan’s primary on Tuesday.

“Isn’t it possible the party has moved, and the party is about Donald Trump and not what you’re describing, which might be the party of yesterday?” CNN’s Dana Bash asked Haley.

“It is very possible. What I am saying to my Republican Party family is we are in a ship with a hole in it, and we can either go down with the ship and watch the country go socialist left, or we can see that we need to take the life raft and move in a new direction,” Haley said in respond.

Haley added that she remains committed to the race, stating her intention to travel across more than half a dozen states over the next week while planning rallies and fundraisers to help her campaign.

“We’ve only seen a handful of states vote. I’ve said this before: As much as the media wants to jump ahead, we’re taking this one state, one day at a time. I’m doing what I believe 70% of Americans want me to do,” Haley claimed.

Looking beyond Haley, Democrats, in general, are facing headwinds ahead of this year’s elections.

Exit polling done by CBS News in New Hampshire throughout the day during the primary there earlier this month as voters went to the polls in the country’s second GOP primary spelled bad news for President Joe Biden and his party.

Earlier in the week, Vice President Kamala Harris launched a nationwide “Fight for Reproductive Freedoms” Tour in Wisconsin, with the focus being on ensuring wider access to abortion.

However, according to CBS’ exit polling, the vast majority of respondents found other issues far more important: The porous southwest border and the economy.

“On the issues, the economy and immigration are the top issues for New Hampshire primary voters. These are the same issues that were most important to Iowa GOP caucus goers,” the outlet reported. “Immigration is a driver, particularly for Trump voters.”

Meanwhile, as reported by The Messenger, the results of CBS’s top-of-mind concerns for primary voters come as Trump has taken a seven-point lead over Biden in a new survey.

“The poll, conducted online January 17-21 among 3,034 registered voters, found Trump led Biden, 48%-41%, while 11% were undecided. The result was outside the poll’s margin of error, which was 1.8 percentage points,” the outlet reported on a survey done on its behalf in conjunction with the HarrisX polling firm.

“Support of Biden and Trump largely broke down partisan lines. 90% of Republicans backed Trump and 82% of Democrats backed Biden. Independents supported Trump, 43%-36%, while 22% were undecided,” the outlet noted further.
