Left-Wing Los Angeles DA George Gascon Ripped For Light Sentence in Child Molester Case

Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón is being ripped to shreds again for allowing a transgender woman who sexually assaulted a 10-year-old girl as a minor to get away without jail time and with a teensy slap on the wrist.

The Los Angeles Times reported Monday that Hannah Tubbs, who is now 26, pleaded guilty to attacking the child in a women’s bathroom at a Denny’s restaurant in 2014 just two weeks before she turned 18 years old. Gascón filed charges against Tubbs not long after he took office, in early 2020.

“The assault went on until someone walked into the restroom and scared him off. He fled from the restaurant, and he went unidentified for several years until a cold DNA hit identified him as someone who was arrested in the state of Idaho,” said LA County Deputy District Attorney John McKinney.

Fox 11 in Los Angeles added that while on the lam, Tubbs accumulated a lengthy criminal record including assaults with deadly weapons and actually criminal convictions. Tubbs was extradited to L.A. County in 2019.

The New York Post adds:

But the progressive DA has refused to try juveniles as adults, citing studies that show adolescent brains aren’t fully developed until age 25 and claiming that young offenders can be rehabilitated in juvenile facilities.

At her sentencing later this month, Tubbs faces a short stint in a juvenile hall or probation, according to the LA Times, which reported that the Sheriff’s Department has offered to house her in an adult facility.

The potential punishment, however, has drawn backlash for being too lax.

“I would ask the public to reach out to Mr. Gascón and express their concerns and their outrage on a matter such as this involving a sexual predator,” said Lt. Richard Ruiz of the LA County Sheriff’s Department’s Special Victims Bureau, Fox 11 reported.

“What is happening is our district attorney is ushering him right out the door, back onto the streets of this county and God knows where else he might roam. It’s madness, it makes a mockery of our criminal justice system,” McKinney said.

In a statement, the L.A. DA’s office said:

“The defendant entered an open plea to the court, leaving it up to the judge to decide what the sentence should be.  Our office is seeking that he be placed in a custodial setting in a sheriff’s facility for two years.”

McKinney didn’t buy that, however (nor should he have).

“The DA is trying to distance himself from this result and lay blame on the judge when in fact, it’s only happened because of his policy against transferring juvenile cases to adult court,” he said. “Two years is a pathetic outcome for a man who is a career criminal with felony convictions in multiple states and who committed forcible sexual assault on a 10-year-old girl in a Denny’s bathroom.”

The people of L.A. County have had enough of this George Soros-installed ‘district attorney,’ and are moving to recall him, according to Fox News in December.

“In the interest of continuing the effort to restore public safety in Los Angeles County by recalling District Attorney George Gascon, victims and volunteer leaders from the original recall Gascon campaign have formed a new committee called Recall District Attorney George Gascon,” the group Recall DA George Gascon tweeted in September.

“Today this movement is growing rapidly and gathering the support and resources needed to flip the script on DA George Gascon, reverse his anti-crime victim/pro-criminal policies, and provide hope for the millions of law-abiding people living in Los Angeles County—citizens who, because of DA Gascon, today feel less safe, and believe he has tipped that the scales of justice against them,” the group’s website states.
