House GOP Launch Investigation Into Cocaine Found in White House

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) is urging the U.S. Secret Service to provide Congress with more information regarding the recent discovery of a bag of cocaine inside the Biden White House, Fox News Digital reports. The issue becomes more troubling once one realizes that the son of President Biden is a known drug addict.

In a letter to Secret Service Director Kim Cheatle, Comer described the incident as “shameful” and called for a staff-level briefing on the matter by next week.

Comer emphasized the need for the committee to assess White House security practices and identify any failures that led to the illegal substance being found, stating that additional information is required.

“This alarming development requires the Committee to assess White House security practices and determine whose failures led to an evacuation of the building and finding of the illegal substance,” Comer wrote.

Comer further raised questions about the level of security maintained at the White House, requesting a staff-level briefing by July 14, 2023, to aid the committee’s investigation.

Reports regarding the location of the cocaine have been conflicting.

At first, it was believed to have been found in the White House library, but Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre later stated that it was discovered in a heavily traveled area of the West Wing.

Recent reports indicate that it was found near the West Executive entrance, which is a more secure location than previously thought.

The Secret Service is currently conducting an investigation into the discovered drugs, which occurred while President Biden and his family were at Camp David.

Jean-Pierre claimed that the location where the cocaine was discovered is frequented by numerous visitors entering the West Wing. She did not provide further details.

Senator Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) also wrote to the Secret Service, demanding more information and expressing the need for Congress to be informed about any security flaws if the White House complex is deemed insecure.
