LA Mayor's Residence Targeted in Burglary

Early Sunday morning, an intruder was apprehended after breaching the Los Angeles mayor’s official residence, Getty House, located in Hancock Park.

Mayor Karen Bass and her family were unharmed during the incident. Deputy Mayor Zach Seidl expressed gratitude to the LAPD, stating, “The Mayor is grateful to LAPD for responding and arresting the suspect.”

According to LAPD officials, the intruder gained entry through a glass door, prompting a swift response from law enforcement officers who promptly detained the suspect without further incident.

Identified as Ephraim Matthew Hunter, 29, of Los Angeles, the suspect was booked for burglary and held on $100,000 bail.

While Bass was present during the intrusion, details remain scarce regarding the intruder’s intentions or any direct contact with the mayor.

This isn’t the first security breach involving Bass. In a previous incident in 2022, burglars targeted her Baldwin Vista home, highlighting concerns about security arrangements for public officials.

Law enforcement expert Bruce Thomas emphasized the need for a thorough review of security protocols, especially given the high-profile nature of the residence
