Major League Pitcher Rips Team In Powerful Statement For Inviting Anti-Catholic Group

Professional baseball players who are putting their own Christian beliefs first are finally speaking out publicly against the Los Angeles Dodgers organization for inviting the anti-Catholic group “Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence” to the team’s 2023 Pride Night next month.

They include one of the team’s pitchers.

Following the invitation, a Catholic pitcher with the Washington Nationals expressed his strong disapproval and not long after, Blake Treinen, a 34-year-old pitcher formerly with the Oakland A’s and now with the Dodgers, released a statement criticizing both his team and employer for their actions.

“I am disappointed to see the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence being honored as heroes at Dodger Stadium,” Treinen said in a statement posted to Twitter via a friend, Sean Feucht. “Many of their performances are blasphemous, and their work only displays hate and mockery of Catholics and the Christian faith.”

According to reports, the group known consists of adult men who adopt the appearance of provocative nuns. Their activities include openly sexualizing Jesus Christ, demeaning Mary Mother of God, and mocking other significant elements of the Roman Catholic faith in an attempt to promote what they refer to as “sexual liberation.”

As CatholicVote’s Brian Burch wrote: “In one infamous stunt, they tricked an archbishop into giving them the Eucharist — the most important sacrament of the Catholic faith — so they could defile it.”

The following video is vulgar, but it provides insight into what the L.A. Dodgers management appear willing to celebrate:

For his part, Treinan suggested he was aware that speaking his mind could cost him professionally and financially.

“I understand that playing baseball is a privilege, and not a right,” he said. “My convictions in Jesus Christ will always come first. Since I have been with the Dodger’s they have been at the forefront of supporting a wide variety of groups.  However, inviting the Sister’s of Perpetual Indulgence to perform disenfranchises a large community and promotes hate of Christians and people of faith. This single event alienates the fans and supporters of the Dodgers, Major League Baseball, and professional sports.”

The father of two added: “I believe Jesus Christ died on the cross for my sins. I believe the word of God is true, and in Galatians 6:7 it says, ‘do not be deceived, God cannot be mocked; a man reaps what he sows.’”

“People like baseball for its entertainment value and competition. The fans do not want propaganda or politics forced on them,” Treinen said. “The debacle with Bud Light and Target should be a warning to companies and professional sports to stay true to their brand and leave the propaganda and politics off the field.”
