Kudlow Says 'Bidenomics' Policies Worse Than If Biden Hadn't Done Anything

Fox Business Network host and former Trump economic adviser Larry Kudlow tore into Joe Biden’s economic policies, known collectively as “Bidenomics,” earlier this week during a show segment following claims the president made in a speech on Wednesday.

To begin, Kudlow played a video segment of false claims that White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre made on Monday during a back-and-forth with reporters.

She said:

When we walked into this administration, the economy was on a tailspin. That is a fact, because of the Trump administration… The president came in and passed the American Rescue Plan and got the economy back on its feet, and let’s not forget what Republicans are doing on other side of Pennsylvania Avenue. They are trying to increase healthcare costs and get rid of Medicare and rid of Social Security.

“Oh, my goodness, you know, I hardly know where to begin. There are so many falsehoods from the White House podium. First of all, there was no tailspin. In the first quarter of 2021, the American economy grew at about 6.5% with an inflation rate less than 1.5%,” Kudlow, who was still with the Trump administration at the time, said.

“Joe Biden takes office on January 20, 2021, essentially riding atop a soaring economy without inflation. Gasoline prices, they were barely above $2 a gallon. And those are facts, madame press secretary. Facts. Facts. You can look it up,” he continued.

“Now, the economic rebound from the Covid collapse was a V-shaped recovery, I know from experience as the former [National Economic Council] director… We were touting a V-shaped recovery and took flack from the liberal Washington media and the Democrats, but we were right, and they were wrong,” Kudlow continued before making comparisons between the Trump and Biden economic policies.

“Trump policies of tax cuts, deregulation, and drill baby drill created sound fundamentals. As the COVID clouds disappear, the pro-growth policies drove the economy back up. And the smartest thing Joe Biden could have done was — wait for it — done nothing,” Kudlow said.

“That is what he should have done. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. But no, Biden pushed for a $2 trillion dollar spending plan to scratch every left-wing Democratic itch. All that did was jack up the inflation rate to 9%, and by the first half of 2022, a year later, the economy was in recession with 2 negative GDP quarters. That is Bidenomics,” Kudlow noted.
