Democrats Distancing From Extreme Progressive Ilhan Omar
The Federal Bureau of Investigation found that Iran is linked to an egregious online attempt to incite election-related violence against U.S. officials, sources told the Washington Post.
Photographs, addresses and personal data of various election officials were released on the Iran-affiliated website called “Enemies of the People,” including those of FBI Director Christopher Wray and recently-dismissed Homeland Security Department official Christopher Krebs.
The targeted officials have all – in some way or another – openly claimed that the November elections were fair and secure, denouncing President Trump’s election fraud claims.
The since-deleted site and all related social media accounts emerged around two weeks ago, alleging that the officials had committed treason by aiding and abetting a “fraudulent election” against Trump.
A state official said that the FBI has been warning the targets about the alleged Iran-backed efforts against them.
“The FBI is in possession of highly credible information indicating Iranian advanced persistent threat actors were almost certainly responsible for the creation of a website, called ‘Enemies of the People’ containing death threats aimed at US election officials in mid-December 2020,” the statement read.
The FBI is expected to make an announcement on the matter Wednesday, the Daily Caller reports.
