Hunter Biden Agrees to Closed-Door Deposition After Defying Congressional Subpoena

Hunter Biden has agreed to a closed-door deposition before lawmakers, reversing his previous defiance of subpoenas issued in December, Daily Caller reports.

The decision comes as House lawmakers held markup meetings to discuss a resolution holding Hunter Biden in contempt of Congress.

Hunter Biden’s defense attorney, Abbe Lowell, wrote a letter to House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, stating that his client would comply with a new “proper” subpoena, The Post Millennial.

Lowell argued that the earlier subpoenas issued in November were legally invalid and could not serve as a basis for the contempt resolution.

He criticized the lack of transparency and urged the committees to allow the American people to witness Hunter Biden’s complete testimony in a public hearing. Lowell emphasized that if a new, duly authorized subpoena is issued, Hunter Biden will comply with it for a hearing or deposition.

The letter comes amid an ongoing debate over the handling of Hunter Biden’s testimony and the legitimacy of the subpoenas, with the attorney emphasizing the need for a proper legal basis for any proceedings against his client.
