The Federalist chief editor Mollie Hemingway called out President Joe Biden’s attorney general, Merrick Garland, for running political interference on behalf of his boss against Biden’s primary 2024 opponent, former President Donald Trump.
Hemingway made her remarks following an interview Garland gave to CBS in which he claimed that his Justice Department has shown no bias to Republicans and conservatives, a claim she found laughable “propaganda.”
“This was propaganda that was aired last night in this interview with Merrick Garland. What we have right now is Merrick Garland is participating in a Democrat campaign strategy of indicting Trump all over the place in the hope they can get quick convictions and interfere with the elections objectively true,” she told Fox News host Laura Ingraham. “They are participating in this Democratic campaign strategy. He said that they don’t have one rule for one group and one rule for another.
“Look at the Hillary Clinton situation. When she was Secretary of State, not president, when she mishandled classified information when she obstructed the investigation,” Hemingway added. “They came up with an entirely novel legal standard to let her off the hook and then meanwhile go after President Trump –”
“–or Hunter Biden, they are still trying to deny that is even his laptop,” Ingraham interjected.
“At the same time that the sitting president has issues here. It is just so absurd to say it’s not two standards when we are living through every single day, and he should not be allowed to have this kind of flippant response,” Hemingway replied.
“Well, 60 Minutes was just a complete propaganda piece for the DOJ. And people say it’s so nice it’s all evenhanded,” Ingraham countered.
“It’s a real threat to the republic what we are going through. People have lost confidence in our Department of Justice. That’s a very serious problem,” said Hemingway. “The fact that Donald Trump is doing so well not just in the Republican primary but even in head-to-head matchups against Joe Biden shows that the American people do not view these indictments as legitimate.”
