'Grown Men Wearing Silly Makeup' - Actor Kirk Cameron Responds to Activists Disrupting Book Event

Actor Kirk Cameron is on a crusade to bring Christian morals and values to as many kids as he can, but at every venue he attends, he’s being met with left-wing activists who try to shut him down because the left doesn’t believe in free speech and expression if those views differ from their own.

According to his publisher, Brave Books, a group of drag queens and activists wearing black and white protested aCameron’s story time event for families and children at the Fayetteville Public Library in Fayetteville, Arkansas on Friday, Fox News reported.

The protesters reportedly blocked the views of some families and children and distracted others from the book reading and remarks from the stage, as seen in photos taken by Brave Books staff present at the event, the report said.

Cameron, a Los Angeles-based actor and writer who has been visiting public libraries to share messages of faith, family, and patriotism during children’s book readings, expressed his concern over the disruptions caused by the group in an interview with Fox News Digital.

“The small group of protesters, which included some grown men wearing silly makeup, dressed in skirts and heels, pretending to be women, listened to the reading of a kids’ book about God’s view of gender called, ‘Elephants Are Not Birds,'” he told the outlet in an email.

“At the close of this sweet and funny story of a singing elephant named Kevin who was tricked by a vulture named ‘Culture’ into thinking he might be a bird, the reader then asked the 300 children, ‘Do you think elephants can be birds, even if they strap on silly wings and a beak?'” he continued.

He added: “In unison, and with great laughter, all 300 children confessed with gusto, No!'”

“I felt sad for the men in skirts,” he also told Fox News Digital. “As it is written, ‘You have taught the little children to praise you perfectly. May their example shame and silence your enemies’” (Psalm 8:2).

Cameron and Brave Books organized the “Freedom Island Tour,” which included the event in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The tour features a series of illustrated children’s books published by Brave Books, a conservative publishing company. “As You Grow,” a book written by Cameron himself, tells the story of an acorn that grows into a giant tree. The event in Fayetteville was the tour’s sixth stop, and it attracted around 500 attendees, according to the publisher.
