GOP Lawmaker and Combat Vet Rips MSNBC Guest's Claim Florida About to Become 'Terrorist' Enclave Endangering Blacks

Congressman Mike Waltz (R-FL) responded vehemently on Tuesday following a claim made by an MSNBC guest, who alleged that Florida was on the verge of becoming a “terrorist state” for black Americans and individuals belonging to the LGBTQ community.

During an interview with “Deadline White House” host Nicolle Wallace, Democratic strategist Aisha Mills made the aforementioned statement, referring to a travel warning by the NAACP that characterized Florida as “hostile” towards black Americans and the LGBTQ community.

Waltz, a combat veteran and former Green Beret with expertise in counterterrorism, strongly criticized Mills, describing her comment as “legitimately insane.”

Wallace was the first to bring up the travel warning, which was issued by the NAACP over the weekend — ahead of Gov. Ron DeSantis’ expected announcement he is running for president next year.

“Florida is openly hostile toward African Americans, people of color, and LGBTQ+ individuals. Before traveling to Florida, please understand that the state of Florida devalues and marginalizes the contributions of, and the challenges faced by African Americans and other communities of color,” the NAACP falsely charged in the ‘warning.’

Mills said she was appreciative of the warning, but then admitted she just vacationed in Florida.

“I think it was extremely clever, and I really appreciate the NAACP’s guidance on this issue, you know, I just took my family to Spring Break in Florida recently, and I think about all of the folks who travel there for sun and joy and peace and restoration — and to be reminded that actually, this is getting to the point where Florida is about to be a terrorist state to many of us here in America,” Mills said.

“Certainly, as a lesbian, as a black woman, I don’t want to have anything to do with the place,” she claimed.

She also said the warning could change the minds of some people who were considering traveling to Florida, adding, “I thank them.”

Radio host Clay Travis shared a video clip of Mills’ appearance, adding, “These people are legit insane,” to which Waltz quickly agreed.

@ClayTravis is 100% correct,” Waltz tweeted. “As a combat veteran, I’ve been shot at by actual terrorists in war torn countries. These people are legitimately insane.”

Some users disagreed, but not in a bad way.

“NOT insane. Evil. Left-wing evil. Call it what it is,” the USA Features Media account noted.
