Goofy 80s Band 'The B-52s' Ripped For Being Critical of Laws Protecting Kids From Drag Shows, Trans Surgeries

Not long ago, even far-left Americans agreed society had a duty to protect children from sexual exploitation and sexualization, but that has suddenly changed. Now, the American far-left not only doesn’t have a problem with such sexualization of our kids, but they are actively promoting and encouraging this sick behavior.

That includes the members of 80’s campy band The B-52s, best known for “Love Shack.”

The iconic band took to Twitter on Thursday to voice their opposition to bills and laws proposed in conservative states that would prevent minors from attending drag shows and restrict “gender-affirming” surgeries for minors. While many liberals praised the band’s stance, some critics pointed out that not many people are familiar with who they are.

“We, The B-52’s, are deeply concerned about the numerous new bills that promote transphobia and discrimination against transgender individuals and drag artists, which have been introduced in the United States,” the band wrote. “We strongly denounce these bills and stand in solidarity with our LGBTQ+ community.

“It is unacceptable that in the 21st century, we are witnessing such blatant attempts to undermine the rights of individuals based on their gender identity and sexual orientation,” the group continued. “These bills not only violate the fundamental human rights of the affected individuals but also perpetuate a toxic culture of hate and intolerance that has no place in our society. Join us in denouncing these bills and standing in support of our LGBTQ+ community. Together, let us work towards building a society that reflects our shared being and is truly just, inclusive, and welcoming for all.”

Whether it’s the 1st century or the 21st, most rational people agree that kids do not need to be — and should not be — exposed to certain aspects of our society, and that would include a) keeping them away from highly sexualized drag shows; and b) preventing them, as kids lacking in life experience, from choosing to mutate their bodies permanently.

Left-leaning users praised the band for their stance. However, an equal number of users criticized the band for misrepresenting the intent of the bills and laws, while others were surprised to learn that the band was still active or were indifferent to their statement, the Daily Wire reported.

“I am utterly indifferent about what this intermittently amusing band thinks about anything,” TownHall senior columnist Kurt Schlichter noted on Twitter.

“Clever ploy to let people know that in fact your band still exists,” Grabien founder Tom Elliott added.

“You should stick to identifying and imitating sea creatures,” author and podcaster Jim Hanson said.

“Can you articulate why you believe minors should be sterilized or undergo dangerous elective surgeries?” journalist Chad Felix Greene offered. “Can you articulate why children and minors should be permitted into adult-only venues and/or exposed to adult-themed sexual performances? Do you know what you’re opposing?”

“Out of respect, I’m going to wait to hear what Bananarama and A-ha have to say before forming an opinion,” one Twitter user posted mockingly.
