Gingrich: 'Deep State' Columnist Pushing For Biden Exit Because He Knows He Can't Beat Trump

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich believes that several “deep state” journalists are now pushing for President Joe Biden to drop out of the 2024 election because “Bidenomics” is wrecking the economy and his chances at beating likely GOP nominee former President Donald Trump.

Gingrich took particular aim at Washington Post columnist David Ignatius, who called for both Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris to shun the 2024 race because neither is popular.

“Well, this may be one of the great strategic mistakes for re-election that anybody has made in modern times. Bidenomics is going to become an absurdity,” Gingrich told Fox News host Laura Ingraham on Wednesday.

“The average everyday American knows that the price of gasoline is going up and, by the way, every indication is that the Biden administration policies are going to make gasoline even more expensive,” he added.

“So, gasoline is a major factor in the Consumer Price Index as it keeps going up you will see the inflation going up. At the same time, everybody who goes grocery shopping. Calista and I did this over the weekend. You are startled by some of the prices,” the former Speaker and Georgia Republican added.

“And you know that Joe Biden, he has a great chef at the White House. He gets to fly Air Force One. He gets to go to Wilmington and be surrounded by people. I don’t think that they have a clue how bad inflation is — high prices are for the average American,” he said.

“And, Bidenomics may be one of the reasons that one of the most important deep-state columnists, David Ignatius wrote a column this morning saying Biden should drop out. I think it’s beginning to sink in to Democrats that Biden getting reelected is going to be very, very hard,” he added.

Meanwhile, Joe Scarborough told his MSNBC audience something that is liable to get him booted out of the Democratic Media Club during a Wednesday show segment.

He and wife/co-host Mika Brzezinski were interviewing Ignatius over his piece when Brzezinski appeared a little miffed by Ignatius’ conclusions, especially when he said he could not think of a Democrat to replace Biden.

“I think it comes down to what we were talking about earlier is Joe Biden, the person who can stop Donald Trump, or somebody like Trump who gets the Republican nomination?” Ignatius said during the segment. “That’s what he’s got to — He’s got to look in the mirror, search his soul and make that decision. And I wanted to raise that question. I’d like him to think that through carefully because I have my concerns.”

That’s when Scarborough dropped a bombshell.

“Just to answer David’s question,” he began. “Mika and I, everybody we talk to, every political discussion, all it talks a lot about Trump, but when it comes to Joe Biden, people say, ‘Man, he’s too old to run. He’s, and I mean, he’s not going to; he’s not really going to run…’”

“When I say every discussion, I don’t mean 99 percent of the discussion. Every discussion,” he clarified. “I asked Reverend Al if he was hearing it all the time on our show this past week. He’s hearing it as well.”

“So, you know, we often will complain about Republicans who will say one thing about Donald Trump off the air and another on air,” he added. “Well, let me just say, Democrats, off the air, will say ‘Joe Biden’s too old. Why is he running.’ On the air? They won’t say that.”

“So, I commend David for at least raising the question,” Scarborough concluded. “I mean, my question, of course, Willie, is who could do a better job as president? Is Joe Biden, and who can beat Donald Trump? I don’t see a lot of Democrats out there. I don’t see any Democrats out there right now that could do that.”
