Former Democratic Rep. Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii, now an Independent, ripped members of her old party on Monday after several complained that Donald Trump would come after them if he wins the presidency next year.
That, she said, is the pinnacle of hypocrisy given that Democratic district attorneys and the Biden administration are literally using the legal system in an attempt to jail him.
She also blasted Democrats in Congress and the political commentariat for comparing Trump to “Hitler” in an attempt to “dehumanize” him.
“Yeah, the hypocrisy is rich,” she told Fox News host Laura Ingraham. “You said they only referred to him 12 times in one day as Hitler. Go back to 2016. I’ll tell you a brief personal story.”
“Two weeks after Trump was elected, in 2016, I was invited to go and speak to him about foreign policy, about how to defeat radical Islam and terrorist groups like ISIS and Al-Qaeda. And just for meeting with Trump, almost all Democrats in Congress and those on TV resoundingly criticized me for humanizing Trump. How dare you,” Gabbard, who is an officer in the Army Reserves and an Iraq war vet, said.
“They were so angry about this because it directly undermined what they were trying to do in dehumanizing Trump and everyone who voted for him, the so-called deplorables because they couldn’t defeat him on substance. Not only did they do that in 2016, but throughout his administration,” she continued.
“This is another example of their hypocrisy. In one breath they talk about defending democracy and we heard Jen Psaki on MSNBC saying if you elect Trump you are going to undermine the rule of law and throw his political opponents in jail,” Gabbard said.
” Look at what they are doing right now, and you see that on the smirk on [New York Attorney General] Letitia James face. They know exactly what they are doing, undermining the rule of law to make it so that voters don’t have the opportunity to decide who they want to vote for,” she continued.
“The American people aren’t stupid. They think that we are and that they can get away with this,” she added. “But I think the American people are seeing exactly what they are doing that the Democrat establishment is going after Trump because they are afraid of him.
“And they cannot challenge him on substance whether it’s the economy, securing the border, or foreign policy and the issues of peace and war,” she said.
