Fox Legal Expert Jarrett Rips Trump's Prosecution For 'Same Thing' Hillary Clinton Did

Former President Donald Trump has said that he is being prosecuted for crimes that others would not be prosecuted for, and there is evidence to support his claim.

Fox News legal analyst Greg Jarrett highlighted a similar situation involving former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in which she was not prosecuted but fined.

“Hillary Clinton did pretty much the same thing,” he said on “Fox and Friends.” “She, too, used a lawyer to secretly pay for the phony Steele Dossier and booking it as legal expenses. She was fined by the FEC, but she wasn’t prosecuted and neither was Barack Obama, even though he was fined a whopping $375,000 for hiding donors and keeping illegal contributions.”

“But, if your last name is Trump, the standard of justice is completely different and turned on its head,” he said.

The analyst criticized the gag order against the former president in the case who prevents him from talking about the fact that Judge Juan Merchan’s daughter, Loren Merchan, works for a firm that has raised around $93 million for Democrat candidates by using the Trump indictments.

And he criticized the gymnastics District Attorney Alvin Bragg had to do to bring the case.

“[Bragg] had to attach it to a supposed election law violation, well it’s not. Federal Election Commission investigated, and they said this is perfectly legal. It is not a campaign donation,” the analyst said.

“The DOJ concluded there is no crime here. But, you know, enter Alvin Bragg who is charging under federal law even though he is a local prosecutor and has no jurisdiction and authority to do that. But the judge is letting him get away with it,” he said.

And Bragg is not done with the former president as he now wants him held in contempt.

“Prosecutors argue that the social media posts violate the partial gag order Trump is under in the trial, which prohibits him from making public statements on possible witnesses in the case. Prosecutors also asked that Trump be fined $3,000 for violations of the gag order in three separate social media posts,” Axios reported.

“Defendant is not above the law, and he cannot simply disregard judicial orders that upset him,” Bragg wrote in the motion, which was filed on the second day of jury selection in the trial.

“Defendant’s recent social media posts plainly violate the order because they target known witnesses concerning their participation in this criminal proceeding,” Bragg wrote.
