Former Top Clinton Admin Official Calls on 'States' to Prevent Trump From Appearing on Ballots

Former Clinton Labor Secretary Robert Reich sounds a lot like he needs to take a refresher course in civics.

On Monday, Reich published an op-ed in The Guardian in which he urged states to decline to include former President Donald Trump’s name on the 2024 presidential ballot.

In the article titled “Trump committed treason and will try again. He must be barred from running,” he argues that Trump should be disqualified from running for public office again due to his actions, which he characterizes as “treason.” Reich also calls on state officials to take action to prevent Trump from being elected again.

In other words, Reich the miniature authoritarian, doesn’t care what voters want or think, he wants the state to use power to prevent the people’s choice from being heard.

According to Reich, Trump’s act of “treason” occurred when he “refused to concede and instead claimed without basis that the election was stolen from him, then pushed state officials to change their tallies, hatched a plot to name fake electors, tried to persuade the vice-president to refuse to certify electoral college votes, sought access to voting-machine data and software, got his allies in Congress to agree to question the electoral votes and thereby shift the decision to the House of Representatives, and summoned his supporters to Washington on the day electoral votes were to be counted and urged them to march on the US Capitol, where they rioted.”

He also claimed that “all three branches of the federal government have described the January 6 attack on the US Capitol as an ‘insurrection.'”

Section 3 of the 14th Amendment of the United States Constitution bars individuals who have been found to have engaged in “insurrection or rebellion” against the United States from holding public office.

He commended the January 6 committee for its “painstaking work” and highlighted the revised Electoral Count Reform Act, which modified the process of certifying electoral votes for presidential elections, as having “filled some of the legal holes.”

The former labor chief described a lunatic ‘nightmare scenario’ for left-wing America in which Biden cruises to re-election next year, but Trump refuses to concede and instead recruits “secretaries of state and governors who are loyal to him to alter the election machinery to ensure he wins.” He wrote that Trump could even try to “appoint electors who will vote for him regardless of the outcome of the popular vote” because the former president’s “loyalists are now in much stronger positions throughout state and federal government.”

“Secretaries of state – who in most cases are in charge of deciding who gets on the ballot – must refuse to place Donald Trump’s name on the 2024 ballot, based on the clear meaning of section three of the 14th amendment to the US constitution,” Reich concluded.
