Federal Judge Appointed By Biden Stuns Administration With Bitter Rebuke

A federal judge appointed by President Joe Biden has shredded his Department of Justice for its hypocrisy.

U.S. District Judge Ana Reyes eviscerated the Department of Justice on Friday after it advised two of its attorneys not to comply with subpoenas from the House Judiciary Committee while at the same time prosecuting former Trump officials who defied congressional subpoenas, Just The News reported.

Judge Reyes was overseeing a hearing between the Department of Justice and Judiciary Committee regarding subpoenas that were issued to attorneys Mark Daly and Jack Morgan, demanding they testify in the House impeachment inquiry, Politico reported.

The House Judiciary Committee sued the attorneys from the DOJ Tax Division in March to get them to comply with the subpoenas.

Judge Reyes was furious with the hypocrisy shown by the Department of Justice and hammered the agency about it.

“I think it’s quite rich you guys pursue criminal investigations and put people in jail for not showing up,” but then ask their attorneys to do the same thing.

“There’s a person in jail right now because you all brought a criminal lawsuit against him because he did not appear for a House subpoena,” she said, referring to former President Donald Trump’s former official Peter Navarro, who began serving a four-month sentence last month for contempt of Congress after he chose to ignore a subpoena from the House January 6 Committee.

The Judiciary Committee said in its lawsuit that the testimony of these two attorneys was needed as they were involved in the Hunter Biden investigation.

“To craft effective legislative reforms and to determine whether President Biden has committed an impeachable offense, it must have all the facts,” the lawsuit said. “And to uncover all the facts, the Committee requires testimony from both Mark Daly and Jack Morgan, two current or former Tax Division attorneys who have firsthand knowledge of the irregularities in DOJ’s investigation that appear to have benefited Hunter Biden.”

“For example, as members of the team that recommended what charges to bring against Hunter Biden, Daly and Morgan initially agreed that DOJ should file charges for tax crimes related to 2014 and 2015. But months later, they gave a key presentation and argued just the opposite—that Hunter Biden should not be charged for tax crimes related to those years,” it said. “DOJ ultimately allowed the statute of limitations for those charges to lapse. Daly and Morgan are thus crucial to the Committee’s investigation.”
