FBI Refuses to Hand Over Document GOP Subpoenaed in Alleged Biden 'Criminal Scheme'

The FBI has refused to turn over a document that was subpoenaed by a committee in the GOP-controlled House that allegedly contains evidence of a “criminal scheme” involving President Joe Biden.

During a private meeting with the House Oversight and Accountability Committee on Monday, the agency declined to release the document, known as an unclassified FD-1023, which reportedly contains information regarding criminal allegations surrounding a pay-to-play scheme linked to the business activities of the Biden family. The accusation was provided by a whistleblower from the agency who had a conversation with Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), Fox News Digital reported.

Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.), chairman of the Oversight Committee, issued a subpoena to the FBI after the agency failed to deliver the requested document by the May 10 deadline. Comer has since expressed his intention to collaborate with Senate Republicans to hold the FBI’s budget hostage until the agency appoints new leadership or produces the document.

“They don’t respect anyone in Congress,” Comer told Fox News on Monday. “They’ve been able to get away with this for a long time. The media continues to turn a blind eye. The Senate Republicans continue to fund the FBI. Why would you change your business model when you’re getting everything you want?”

Meanwhile, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., said he talked by phone with FBI Director Christopher Wray on Friday and believes that the agency will eventually turn over the document, though it may be heavily redacted and be all but worthless to the investigation.

“I explained to the director that we will do everything in our power, and we have the jurisdiction over the FBI, and we have the right to see this document,” McCarthy said Sunday on Fox News. “I believe after this call, we will get this document.”

For his part, Comer said he talked with McCarthy on Monday and suggested that the House hold Wray in contempt if the bureau does not come through and adhere to the subpoena.

“The FBI wrote a six-paged letter to Comer on May 10 explaining its concerns with the issued subpoena, which included claims that the wanted document is unverified and based on informants who must be kept private,” Fox News Digital reported.
