Ex-Democratic CA Rep Ordered to Pay Hundreds of Thousands of Dollars in Attorney Fees to Journalists

They say there’s no such thing as bad publicity, and former California Democratic Representative Katie Hill seems to be taking advantage of that notion. “A judge just ordered me to PAY the Daily Mail more than $100k for the privilege of them publishing nude photos of me obtained from an abuser. The justice system is broken for victims” Hill tweeted from her account Wednesday.

Except that’s not the whole story. Hill was involved in a scandal when naked photos of her “including one of her with a female campaign staffer” were published. Hill resigned from Congress shortly thereafter. When Hill sued media outlets the Daily Mail, a British tabloid, and two conservative journalists, the lawsuit was dismissed on First Amendment grounds.

Prior to the lawsuit, the House Ethics Committee opened an investigation against her for having an alleged sexual relationship with a male congressional staffer; an allegation she denied. The relationship was in violation of House rules. “Following the #MeToo movement, Congress adopted a rule in February 2018 that barred relationships between members and any subordinates” reported ABC News.

Additionally, she had “acknowledged and apologized for having a sexual relationship with a female campaign staffer when she was running for Congress.” Not shying away from her actions whatsoever, Hill went on ABC’s “The View” and admitted that although a relationship with a campaign staffer when running for Congress didn’t violate any congressional rules, “it was wrong.”

Now, Judge Yolanda Orozco even awarded the parent company of the Daily Mail roughly $105,000 and for Hill to pay roughly $84,000 to the attorneys of Red State’s managing editor, Jennifer Van Laar, as well as roughly $30,000 to radio producer Joseph Messina. A dismissed lawsuit and being ordered to pay for the other side’s attorney fees still did not get Hill to reject the idea that she is the victim.

Hill claimed in her lawsuit that the media had conspired with her ex-husband to distribute the damning photos of her. Nonetheless, Hill continuously feels the need to draw attention to the matter, even when she is the one who looks bad. Hill reportedly will also appeal the judge’s decision.

Judge Orozco did not award Van Laar all of her fees and A Go Fund Me page has been set up to cover the remaining balance. One more fee motion has been filed by RedState corporate which could result in Hill being ordered to pay over $100k.

Charlie Kirk: Biden’s National Child Care Scheme – Yes, Democrats are Targeting Families

Big-spending is the rule of the day. Admittedly, Republicans have contributed to this, but no one has come anywhere close to the sheer size and recklessness of expenditures like Joe Biden.

With over $6 trillion in new spending proposed or already passed amid mounting inflationary pressures, Biden has taken to swiping the USA’s overdrawn credit card like a man who knows he won’t be around to pay it off.

With this much money sloshing around Washington, I wouldn’t blame you if you’ve missed a little-discussed but incredibly dangerous proposal from the Biden administration to spend another $225 billion.

Ostensibly, the goal of this proposal is to subsidize child care for American families. A noble enough ambition at face value, especially as the U.S. birthrate plummeted to its lowest rate in over a century and well below replacement level. Our leaders should be focused on helping American families to have more kids and we should orient our policies to making that more affordable.

"Kids in Cages" Was Created Under the Obama Administration

Michelle Obama and Joe Biden would like you to believe that children being separated from their family at the border is a Trump policy, this couldn’t be farther from the truth. The have been several instances now when Democrats, trying to prove their point, used photographs of children in cages to attack Trump only to find out that the pictures were taken during the Obama Administration.

As reported in USA Today:

In a 2019 interview with nonpartisan think tank The Aspen Institute, Jeh Johnson, Barack Obama’s Homeland Security secretary, told NPR’s Mary Louise Kelly that the “cages” predate the Trump administration.

“Chain-link barriers, partitions, fences, cages, whatever you want to call them were not invented on January 20, 2017,” Johnson said.

Kelly asked Johnson about a 2014 photograph of him touring an Arizona facility for migrants along with former Gov. Jan Brewer. The picture is archived on the website for the Arizona Capitol Times.

That image was also part of another social media meme accusing Michelle Obama of lying about “kids in cages” during her DNC speech. Facebook user Eulalia Maria Jimenez posted it to her page on Aug. 18. Johnson is circled in red in the image.

Johnson explained the picture was taken during a spike in unaccompanied minors crossing the southern border of the country.

“The kids are being housed in the same facilities built under the Obama administration. If you want to call them cages, call them cages. But if the left wants to call them cages, and the Democrats want to call them cages, then they have to accept the fact that they were built and funded in FY ’15, and I was there,” Homan said, according to a transcript.
The Associated Press reported in late 2019 that an unprecedented 69,550 migrant children were held in U.S. custody over that year.

But Michelle Obama’s assertion that the Trump administration tore children from their families and threw them into cages alludes to “a frequent and distorted point made widely by Democrats,” according to the AP. The facilities designed during the Obama administration to temporarily hold migrants were used for a similar purpose by President Trump, the AP also concluded.

This information has a lot of trouble reaching a Democrat audience when they are fed constant lies from main stream media.
