DeSantis Investigates Explicit Drag Event With Children Present

The Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation said on Thursday that they are investigating a “Drag Queen Christmas” drag show that took place on December 26.

The statement from The Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) says it is “aware of multiple complaints about a sexually explicit performance marketed to children held in Fort Lauderdale on December 26th.”

“The Department is actively investigating this matter, including video footage and photographs from the event. DPBR will, like in other cases, take action. Exposing children to sexually explicit activity is a crime in Florida, and such action violates the Department’s licensing standards for operating a business and holding a liquor license. The Department will share any collected evidence with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) for potential criminal liability.

“The Department frequently conducts investigations into these matters upon tips provided by the public, and we thank the public for continuing to bring attention to these incidents. Investigations of such allegations will remain a priority for the Department and, indeed, are ongoing,” the statement says.

Famous social critic LibsofTikTok brought attention to the event in a post before Florida investigated it.

Florida governor Ron DeSantis has gone to war with Drag Shows in the past. In July, DeSantis filed a complaint against Miami’s R House that exposed minors to “sexually explicit” drag.

The Post Millennial reports that “a TikTok video went viral showing a toddler being led around by an almost nude transgender Drag Queen at an event at R House. R House has been accused of disorderly conduct, which if found in violation of local laws and codes, may lead to the revocation of its liquor license. As a bar, the loss of a liquor license could spell the end of their business, according to Breitbart.”

“The nature of the performances described above, particularly when conducted in the presence of young children, corrupts the public morals and outrages the sense of public decency,” the complaint says, according to Reduxx.
