Dems Slam Biden Over Sending Controversial Bombs to Ukraine

Even Democrats are slamming the Biden Regime after the White House’s latest decisions.

Rep. Betty McCollum (D-Minn.), the top Democrat on the House Appropriations defense subcommittee, voiced her opposition to President Biden’s decision to send cluster munitions to Ukraine, Fox News reports.

McCollum called the decision a “mistake” and expressed concerns about the legacy of cluster bombs, which she said result in misery, death, and expensive cleanup efforts long after their use.

She highlighted the ongoing danger posed by cluster munitions in Laos, where the U.S. spends millions annually to remove remnants from the Vietnam era that continue to harm civilians.

The Biden regime recently announced that its aid package to Ukraine would include cluster munitions, which are bombs that release smaller explosives over a wide area upon detonation.

These weapons have been banned by more than 100 countries due to their potential to kill or maim civilians, often caused by unexploded submunitions that pose a threat even years after they were dropped.

Both Russia and Ukraine have used cluster munitions during the conflict, with the White House acknowledging the risk they pose to civilians.

White House national security advisor Jake Sullivan stated that the danger to civilians would be greater if Ukraine did not have sufficient weapons to defend against Russian troops. The Pentagon has indicated that the “dud rate” for the munitions being sent to Ukraine is below 3%.

However, McCollum called for a complete avoidance of these controversial weapons. She expressed strong opposition to the transfer of cluster munitions to Ukraine and advocated for their elimination from U.S. stockpiles rather than their deployment in another country.

On the flip side, Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) offered rare praise to President Biden for the decision, stating that Ukraine needs access to the same weapons used by Russia to combat the invasion. Cotton supported the move and believed it was the right decision, even though it may have taken too long.
