Democrats Urge Biden To Give Up Sole Authority On Nuclear Weapons

In a letter publicized Wednesday, 31 House Democrats, led by Reps. Jimmy Panetta (D-CA) and Ted Lieu (D-CA), urged President Biden to give up his sole authority to launch nuclear weapons.

“We write to respectfully request that you consider modifying the decision-making process the United States uses in its command and control of nuclear forces,” the letter began.

“As president, two of your most critical and solemn duties are the security of the country and the safeguarding of its nuclear arsenal. You alone possess the authority to order the use of nuclear weapons, which assures that nuclear weapons remain under civilian control,” the letter continued. “However, vesting one person with this authority entails real risks. Past presidents have threatened to attack other countries with nuclear weapons or exhibited behavior that caused other officials to express concern about the president’s judgment.”

“While any president would presumably consult with advisors before ordering a nuclear attack, there is no requirement to do so,” the letter added. “The military is obligated to carry out the order if they assess it is legal under the laws of war. Under the current posture of U.S. nuclear forces, that attack would happen in minutes.”

The letter went on to suggest multiple reforms to the policy, like requiring a declaration of war from Congress before any nuclear strikes, or the approval from the speaker of the House of Representatives and the Vice President.

“We note your distinguished record and leadership on nuclear arms control and nonproliferation as senator and vice president. We ask you to lead again,” the letter continued. “As president, you will have the final say on any changes to U.S. nuclear foreign policy. We respectfully request that you, as president, review ways in which you can end the sole authority you have to launch a nuclear attack, and to install additional checks and balances into the system.”

Biden Deportation Freeze is Temporarily Blocked by Federal Judge After Texas Challenge

An executive order issued by Joe Biden to put a freeze on deportation was temporarily blocked by a federal judge in Texas.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton challenged the EO in court to which U.S. District Judge Drew Tipton issued a temporary restraining order on Jan. 26, blocking Biden’s policy nationwide for 14 days.

Epoch Times reports:

The order is a setback to the Biden administration, which has proposed far-reaching changes, including a plan to legalize about 11 million undocumented immigrants living in the United States illegally. Last week, the administration also issued an order that halts all U.S.–Mexico border wall construction.

During former President Donald Trump’s four years in office, Democrats and immigration activists often filed lawsuits in an attempt to halt Trump’s border wall construction, among other immigration provisions. With Paxton’s lawsuit, it’s likely that Republicans may do the same—especially with hundreds of judges appointed by Trump during his term in office.

Paxton hailed the victory, saying on Twitter, “Texas is the FIRST state in the nation to bring a lawsuit against the Biden Admin. AND WE WON.”

“Border states like Texas pay a particularly high price when the federal government fails to faithfully execute our country’s immigration laws,” Paxton said last week, adding that an “attempted halt on almost all deportations would increase the cost to Texas caused by illegal immigration.”

Biden Fuels Racial Flames: BLM Protesters Would Have Been Treated ‘Very Differently’

Former Vice President Joe Biden has campaigned on and promises to be a President that will work across party lines and be a ‘Uniter’ not a ‘divider.’ But the divide is exactly what he did when speaking on Thursday from his hometown of Wilmington, Delaware; far, far away from the issues taking place in Washington, D.C.

Biden, along with many Republican leaders, condemned the mob overtaking of the U.S. Capitol. However, he also further incited the flame amongst his followers that this is a racial issue. Saying the attack was one of the “darkest days in the history of our nation,” Biden lamented “I wish we could say we couldn’t see it coming. But that wasn’t true. We could see it coming.”

“No one can tell me that if it had been a group of Black Lives Matter protesting yesterday there wouldn’t – they wouldn’t have been treated very, very different than the mob of thugs that stormed the Capitol…we all know that is true, and it is unacceptable. Totally unacceptable” said Biden.

What is unacceptable, is for the president-elect to embolden racial tension instead of looking at the facts. BLM rioters and “allies” set up bricks prior to protests to be used to cause harm and destruction. There was zero ambiguity that a goal was complete and utter devastation; of private property, government property and small businesses, literally destroying lives and livelihoods for months on end.

So yes, a photo that Biden’s granddaughter sent him “of police in full military gear lining the steps of the Lincoln Memorial during a Black Lives Matter protest last year” was the appropriate precaution to take against a movement that had proven itself time and time again, in city upon city, to turn deadly.

Nonetheless, Biden helped feed the liberals’ racial and divisive narrative by claiming, “they weren’t protesters. Don’t dare call them protesters. They were a riotous mob. Insurrectionists. Domestic terrorists. It’s that simple.” Those are big and pointed words coming from a man who refused to condemn any of the riotous mob, insurrectionists and Domestic terrorists from earlier this year until polls showed his silence could hurt his electability.
