Democratic Lawmaker Says Hunter Biden 'Clearly' Broke Law, Must Be Held Accountable

Democratic lawmaker from Connecticut is operating well outside of his party’s ‘party line’ regarding its defense and protection of first son Hunter Biden.

Amid swirling scandals that appear to also involve his father and the current president of the United States, Joe Biden, U.S. Rep. Jim Himes (D-Conn.) said in a Friday interview it’s “clear” Hunter, at least, broke the law.

“Let me say something that you never heard a Republican member of Congress say in the four years of the Trump administration, which is that if Hunter Biden broke the law, he should be prosecuted,” Himes said on MSNBC. “And it is clear that he broke the law with respect to taxes and possibly the ownership of a handgun. He should be held accountable for that.”

It should be noted that Trump was investigated six ways to Sunday and no evidence — none — of illegality was found. By contrast, Republicans have discovered a trove of actual criminal activity, allegedly, regarding the first son and his father, including taking bribes from a foreign official.

Himes ripped Republicans for their silence when former President Donald Trump faced indictment, but he also acknowledged that Hunter Biden should face accountability if he used his father’s influence to engage in criminal activities.

“If he traded on his father’s influence, he should be held accountable for that. And I’m emphasizing this because you never, ever heard a Republican say the same thing about Donald Trump or his family,” Himes said, without mentioning any specific criminal activity Trump and his family supposedly committed.

Himes went on to claim that so far, no evidence has been found linking Joe Biden to his son’s crimes, which is false: Republicans have FBI documents from “highly credible” sources indicating tens of millions of allegedly illicit funds went to both men.

“Now, to the question about impeachment, there is today zero evidence, zero evidence that Joe Biden, the president of the United States, knew about what his son was doing. If, if he did know about it, if he participated in that, then that is a very different conversation,” Himes added.
