Democrat Strategist Sounds Alarm On Biden's Basement-Level Approval Rating

A leading Democratic strategist is warning that the administration needs to be very concerned about President Joe Biden’s approval rating, which is in freefall as the country continues to grapple with inflation in the form of rising food, gas, and housing prices, as well as sky-high interest rates.

That said, the strategist told The Daily Caller that the White House should not be “preoccupied” with the situation.

Biden’s approval rating has fallen to 39 percent, marking a two percent decrease from July. Meanwhile, a significant majority of Americans, 73 percent, express concerns about the age of the 80-year-old president, as indicated by a CNN poll conducted by SSRS Research, an independent polling firm. The recent polls underscore the areas where the president faces vulnerabilities, providing the White House with cause for some apprehension, according to Brad Bannon, a Democratic strategist, told the Caller.

“Yes, [the White House] should be worried,” Bannon said. “The next question I’d ask is, ‘Should they be preoccupied with them?’ And the answer to that is no.

“I speak as a pollster here: polls are — and people forget this all the time — are snapshots in time and not moving pictures. Given the fact that we’re 14 months away from the presidential election, I wouldn’t be preoccupied with these polls, but if I was the Biden administration, I would be worried about them because they do show weaknesses,” he added.

According to the CNN poll, an all-time low of only 28 percent of Americans believe that Biden “inspires confidence,” and just 26 percent think he possesses the stamina required for the presidency.

Approximately 70 percent of respondents feel that the state of affairs in America is heading in the wrong direction, while 68 percent expressed concerns about the president’s ability to grasp the concerns of earlier generations.

Other surveys, meanwhile, have produced similar results. For example, 73 percent of Americans think Biden is simply too old to run again for reelection, per The Wall Street Journal. And barely one-third — 36 percent — think he “is mentally up for the job.”

Though Bannon said that the polls should worry the White House, other Democratic strategists discounted them.

“Prior to the midterms, he had numbers like this or worse and he came out as one of the best sitting presidents as to the number of losses in the House [of Representatives] and keeping and gaining in the Senate,” Leslie Marshall, another Democratic strategist, told the Caller.

“Joe Biden has never in this presidency made decisions based on the polls, and nor has this White House, and it has served them well,” she added.
