Cuomo’s Daughter Comes out as ‘Demisexual’ Says ‘Cool Not to Be Hetero in My Liberal Bubble’

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is in the middle of a slew of scandals but it’s his daughter who is making headlines. That is, if we are even allowed to use the term “daughter.” Cuomo’s youngest daughter “isn’t just out and proud. She’s getting specific about her sexual orientation – sort of” reports Fox News.

23-year-old Michaela Kennedy-Cuomo came out as “queer” in an Instagram post last month, but is now declaring herself a “demisexual.” Turning again to Instagram, Kennedy-Cuomo released the news.

WebMD describes demisexual as “people who only feel sexually attracted to someone when they have an emotional bond.” Fox News reported on a livestream during with Kennedy-Cuomo spoke with Donato Tramuto, the former CEO of Trivity Health and a donor to the Robert F. Kennedy Center, which employs her mother, Kerry Kennedy.

During the Livestream, she details her sexuality revelations:

“When I was in elementary school, I feared that I was lesbian. When I was in middle school, I came out to my family and close friends as bisexual. When I was in high school, I discovered pansexuality and thought, ‘That’s the flag for me.’ And I’ve recently learned more about demisexuality, and have believed that that identity resonates with me most.”

Making sure to be clear this is not a move to highlight her ‘wokeness’ she added when she first came out as “queer” she was afraid people would think she was “attention-seeking” because it’s “hip or cool to not to be hetero in my liberal bubble.”

She also said she has “always dreamed of a world in which nobody will have to come out, because everybody’s sexuality will be assumed fluid…but in a world that force-feeds cisgender heterosexuality, coming out of the closet is a lifelong process of unpacking internalized social constructions and stigmas.”
