Bye-Bye Biker: Cyclist Quinn Simmons suspended for pro-Trump Tweets

“Divisive, incendiary, and detrimental”

An up-and-coming American cyclist has been suspended from his racing team for supporting President Trump on Twitter.

Quinn Simmons, 19, was temporarily taken off the team by the Trek-Segafredo team after getting involved in an online exchange with a Dutch journalist Wednesday.

Simmons, who joined the World Tour team this year after winning the junior road world championship last year, responded to an anti-Trump tweet by cycling journalist Jose Been:

“My dear American friends, I hope this horrible presidency ends for you,” Been posted. “And for us as (former?) allies too. If you follow me and support Trump, you can go. There is zero excuse to follow or vote for the vile, horrible man.”

Simmons fired back.

The cyclist tweeted “Bye” with an emoji of a dark-skinned waving hand, according to ABC News, via the New York Post.

When another user replied, “Apparently a Trumper,” Simmons tweeted back in support of the president.

“That’s right”

The team announced Wednesday via Twitter that it had suspended Simmons.

“Trek-Segafredo is an organization that values inclusivity and supports more diverse and equitable sports for all athletes. While we support the right to free speech, we will hold people accountable for their words and actions. Regrettably, team rider Quinn Simmons made statements online that we feel are divisive, incendiary, and detrimental to the team, professional cycling, its fans and the positive future we hope to help create for the sport. In response, he will not be racing for Trek-Segafredo until further notice.”

But, this move by the team doesn’t seem like supporting the right to free speech…merely the opposite.

Been deleted his original post and said he felt “horrible about the situation and terrible for @QuinnSimmons9 to miss his beloved classics.”

“To suspend him would never be my choice,” Been added, according to the New York Post.

Been’s account has since been deleted.

Carolina Panthers Spanish-Speaking Announcer Forced To Quit Over Support For Trump

One of the Carolina Panthers football broadcasters was not in his booth at the 2020 season-opening game. Why? Because he openly supports President Trump and refuses to allow the NFL to stunt his first amendment rights. First amendment rights which he proudly now has after officially becoming an American citizen just last month.

42-year-old Luis Moreno Jr. moved to the United States from Mexico at the age of 14. He was a star fullback and linebacker for Charlotte Catholic then played college ball at Hampden-Sydney in Virginia. Since 2010, Moreno has been an incredibly popular play-by-play commentator en Espanol for the Carolina Panthers. Moreno co-hosted with his uncle Jaime Moreno.

Moreno and his Uncle “became media darlings for infusing their calls with bursts of extreme enthusiasm more commonly associated with Spanish soccer announcers, and for coining off-the-wall nicknames for the team’s biggest talents,” reported the Charlotte Observer. During COVID-19 Moreno Jr., like the rest of us, was forced to stay at home which he says was enlightening. Particularly about politics and his thoughts on President Trump. He “found out that there are a lot of things that are happening that I wasn’t aware of that make me support him.”

In April, Moreno Jr. retweeted a tweet supporting Trump’s 2020 reelection campaign, which led to him being tagged shortly after in a tweet with other Trump supporters. He was then contacted by the radio and television affiliate manager for the Panthers as well as the Spanish-language radio general manager. It was requested that Moreno Jr. remove all information related to the Panthers from his bios on his personal social-media accounts reported The Observer.

Moreno Jr. says he complied but also continued to create and share social media posts that supported Trump. Over the summer he received yet another call regarding his social media posts. “If what they want me to do is stop supporting the president, I’m not gonna do that.”

“Basically, what I told Eric, I said, ‘Listen…I’m not even under contract right now. I am not willing to participate in this project anymore if I’m going to be censored. So, unless they call me, I’m not going to do it anymore. Because I am not OK with them censoring my freedom of speech in support of the president” Moreno Jr., explained. He also says he is hurt “because this has nothing to do with my performance on-air. This has nothing to do with how good I am at what I do. I’m one of the best, and I’ll put myself against anybody in the country when it comes to what I do in Spanish.”

BUSTED: NYT Reporter Attacks Non-Mask Wearing Republicans, While Not Wearing A Mask

2020 has brought out a level of hypocrisy in liberals such that there needs to be an invention of another word that means “so much hypocrisy” that it makes regular hypocrisy look mild in comparison. Enter, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist for the New York Times, Matthew Rosenberg. Rosenberg is also a CNN national security analyst who gained notoriety for his writings promoting the Russiagate hoax to the Trump-hating mainstream media.

In another attempt to bully Republicans and make conservatives look bad, Rosenberg’s efforts backfired. Tweeting from an event for a Republican, he posted a photo of a ‘Trump 2020’ pin alongside a ‘Vote Marjorie’ pin and wrote, “Souvenirs from a night spent packed into a room with Marjorie Taylor Greene and a crowd of her most devoted supporters in Dalton, GA. Masks very much optional – and unworn. As Taylor put it, she’s for ‘the unmasking of America.”

Forced to sit amongst the non-mask-wearing Republicans and Trump supporters who sat in front of a ‘God Bless Our Nation’ flag, Rosenberg expressed his contempt for their behavior. As he furthered the fear-mongering with his tweets, and his “sanctimonious display and attempts to smear Greene and her supporters” there he sat…NOT wearing a mask.

Photos from Green’s campaign account reveal Rosenberg sitting amongst the very crowd he chastises for not wearing a mask, while not wearing a mask. As The National Pulse reports, “The double-standard speaks to the mainstream media’s willingness to peddle blatant lies in an attempt to smear Trump-supporting Republicans” is exactly right.
