Biden Gets Frustrated With Reporter's Question About 2024 Plans, Says He Intends to Run Again

President Biden confirmed on Tuesday that he plans to run for re-election in 2024. Speaking to reporters, the president expressed optimism about what can be accomplished during his tenure in the White House and said he had made the decision to run again.

“Do you know whether the last few days have changed your calculus on when you’ll make an announcement on your plans for 2024,” one reporter asked.

“No, no, no, no. I’ve already made that calculus. We’ll announce it relatively soon,” Biden responded. “But the trip here just reinforced my sense of optimism about what can be done.”

“So you’ve made a decision,” the reporter pressed.

“I told you my plan is to run again,” Biden said in a somewhat agitated tone, adding that his recent trip had reinforced his sense of optimism about what can be done.

Biden’s announcement aligns with comments made by the White House and First Lady Jill Biden, who said in February that her husband was “pretty much” ready to announce his re-election campaign. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre has also said that Biden “intends to run” for president again in 2024.

Despite not formally announcing his re-election campaign, Biden has already picked up two long-shot Democratic primary challengers, including Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. and Marianne Williamson. Kennedy, the son of the late senator and presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy, will declare his candidacy for the White House at a campaign launch event in Boston on April 19.

Williamson, the best-selling author and spiritual adviser, launched her second straight campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination last month and has been campaigning in early voting primary states.

As the 2024 presidential election draws nearer, it remains to be seen who will ultimately challenge President Biden for the White House.
