Analysts Believe Decision to Boot Trump From Ballot In Colorado Helps His '24 Chances

A number of political commentators and analysts believe that the Colorado Supreme Court’s decision to bar Donald Trump from appearing on that state’s 2024 presidential ballot will only help drive more support for him, similar to the way that the many indictments by Democratic attorneys and the Biden Justice Department have done.

In a Wednesday morning appearance on Fox News, contributor Joe Concha, a columnist for The Hill, called the effort blatant “election interference” and said supporters of the ruling want to see it extended to the remaining 49 states.

“All states is the goal at this point, I think, Todd. If you want the most crap-tastic definition of election interference as a true threat to democracy, look no further than what just happened in Colorado yesterday. In keeping the odds on favorite to win back the presidency in the form of Donald Trump off the ballot,” he said.

“And we witnessed last night Juan [Williams — another Fox contributor], and on those cable news networks you just played as this some sort of victory for democracy. Let’s get this straight,” he continued.

“You have a situation in a state where Donald Trump will not be allowed on the ballot for, what? Inciting insurrection, even though he has never been charged with doing so,” Concha continued.

“Make no mistake, this will have a boomerang effect that will only help improve Donald Trump’s chances at winning next November because anybody sober and sane and objective sees this for what it is, the weaponization of the Justice Department to save the current president, Joe Biden, who is polling lower than gas station sushi at this point with the American people when it comes to his handling of the economy and crime and education and the border, which is at completely out of control as you have been talking about all morning,” he continued.

“Obviously, the world seems like it’s on fire because it pretty much is on fire. So how do you save Joe Biden? Keep the guy running against him, who is polling much higher than he is right now, from being on a ballot like Colorado. It’s a whole bowl of wrong,” he added.

Late Tuesday afternoon, the state’s highest court determined that Trump is ineligible to be a presidential candidate because of the 14th Amendment’s “insurrectionist ban.” The verdict was 4–3. The decision will remain on hold until January 4th, when an appeal is considered, though the country hopes that the U.S. Supreme Court will hear the case and reach a final decision by then, CNN reported.
