House Majority Leader Steve Scalise Endorses Trump for President

House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, R-La., has endorsed former President Donald Trump for a second term in the Oval Office. In a statement obtained by Fox News Digital, Scalise highlighted the successes of Trump’s previous presidency, stating, “When Donald Trump was President, American workers and families were thriving.” He praised Trump’s handling of the economy, secure borders, and low crime rates.

Scalise criticized President Biden’s administration, claiming it has driven the country into chaos with rising costs. He pointed to increased gas prices, low housing affordability, doubled mortgage rates, and the highest inflation level in 40 years. Scalise expressed concern over the southern border situation, citing over 6.2 million encounters and 1.7 million known gotaways from hundreds of countries.

Describing the challenges faced in Biden’s America, Scalise asserted, “In Joe Biden’s America, our communities aren’t safe.” He argued that Americans need a strong leader to fix the problems created by Biden and deter foreign adversaries, endorsing Trump as the candidate with a proven track record. Scalise stated, “He has done it once before, and I know he will do it again,” expressing pride in endorsing Trump for the 2024 presidential race.

In response to Scalise’s endorsement, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) national press secretary, Sarafina Chitika, criticized Scalise as part of a “parade of House extremists” backing Trump. Chitika accused Scalise of prioritizing Trump’s agenda and highlighted his opposition to certifying the 2020 election, efforts to ban abortion nationwide, and collaboration with Trump on healthcare issues.

Scalise’s endorsement comes amid illegal attempts by several states to remove Trump from their primary ballots. Last month, the Colorado Supreme Court ruled to remove Trump from the ballot over the Capitol riots, citing the 14th Amendment’s insurrection clause.
