Drag Queen Invited to White House Accused of Sexual Assault

Drag Queen “Shangela,” previously celebrated at high-profile events including Kamala Harris’s pride event at her residence and the White House signing of the Respect for Marriage Act, now faces accusations of sexual assault, Rolling Stone reports.

Reported by Rolling Stone, the drag artist, known as Darius Pierce offstage, gained fame on RuPaul’s Drag Race and appeared on “We’re Here,” a show featuring visits to conservative areas like St. George, Utah.

Allegations against Pierce, 43, involve four individuals accusing him of sexual assault or attempting non-consensual sexual acts while they were intoxicated. A fifth person claims Pierce tried to assault them anally despite refusal.

Pierce’s attorney countered the claims in a letter, labeling them as “false and unsupported,” highlighting “significant problems” with the accusers’ testimonies.

The investigation into these allegations commenced in November 2022.

Amid the accusations, an Instagram post by Pierce showed him at the White House for the Respect for Marriage Act signing, alongside Harris and Biden. The post included an invitation to the event addressed to the drag performer.
