Dems Say Sea Level Will Rise 30 FEET Without Climate Action

Last week, dozens of House Democrats introduced a non-binding resolution claiming that if the government fails to take action against climate change, the sea level could rise as much as 30 feet by the year 2100.

The resolution, put forward by 65 Democrats, argues that climate change has a disproportionate impact on children and poses a threat to their fundamental rights and mental health worldwide. According to the resolution, immediate government action is necessary to counter the potential irreversible harm to the environment, which it describes as a “threat to national security.”

“The best scientific information available projects a 15- to 30-foot rise in sea level by 2100 if current trends continue, with ever greater rises and acceleration in subsequent centuries, resulting in increased erosion and the loss of land, causing the loss of communities, homes, infrastructure, agriculture, and coastal ecosystems for affected children, until such time as levels of CO2 in the atmosphere are dramatically reduced, and steps are taken to cool the upper portion of the ocean,” the resolution says, according to Fox News Digital.

The resolution cites scientific information projecting a rise in sea level of 15 to 30 feet by 2100 if current trends continue. It warns of increased erosion, loss of land, communities, homes, infrastructure, agriculture, and coastal ecosystems, affecting children until significant reductions in CO2 levels and cooling of the upper portion of the ocean are achieved.

Furthermore, the resolution claims that climate change creates a “planetary energy imbalance” equivalent to the energy released by over 400,000 Hiroshima atomic bombs per day across the planet.

The Democrats’ resolution outlines several ways in which climate change affects children, including potential family loss or separation, school disruptions, anxiety, trauma, and chronic impacts. It also highlights children’s vulnerability to air pollution and longer pollen seasons, which contribute to allergic rhinitis.

The resolution emphasizes that children will bear the cost of climate change more than anyone else, describing it as an enormous burden imposed on them while they are unable to vote or influence climate and energy policies.

Democrats argue that climate change harms children and also poses a threat to national security by contributing to global instability and conflict.
