Biden White House "Frustrated" Over Negative Perception in Media and Poor Polling

The Biden White House is reportedly expressing deep frustration over the media’s coverage of weak polling numbers that show the Biden administration negatively while downplaying positive economic improvements.

According to The Hill, sources within the Biden orbit have voiced their discontent with the disproportionate focus on polls indicating Biden’s declining popularity, with less attention given to polls showing him in a favorable light.

Despite former President Trump’s predictions of an economic downturn under the Biden administration, recent economic indicators show a different picture. Inflation is decreasing, the stock market is performing well, and unemployment is at “historic lows.” Additionally, post-pandemic prices appear to be stabilizing. However, The Hill reports that the media coverage of this economic progress is insufficient to influence poll results.

A Biden official conveyed to The Hill that there is a “deep frustration” within the administration regarding the lack of coverage. Meetings have reportedly taken place to address concerns over polls, but sources suggest that this doesn’t reflect panic over the president’s prospects. Instead, the discussions focus on messaging related to Biden’s age and accomplishments, with concerns about the effectiveness and consistency of communication with the public.

The Biden administration, however, dismisses the polls as being of little significance since the election is still several months away. President Biden’s current job approval rating stands at 39%, a slight increase from October and November when it was reported at 37%, according to a Gallup poll. Despite this uptick, his approval rating has dipped below 40% five times during his term, making it the lowest among modern presidents seeking re-election at this point in their terms.

President Biden has reportedly complained to close aides about his low approval rating, particularly expressing frustration that his economic message has not resonated with the public despite positive economic indicators. The administration has not immediately responded to requests for comment on the media reports.
