Biden Claims He Was at Ground Zero One Day After 9/11, He Wasn’t

President Biden’s recent statement claiming he stood at Ground Zero in New York City on the day following the September 11 terrorist attacks has sparked controversy, as it appears to be completely fabricated.

Despite Biden’s assertion, records clearly show he was in Washington, D.C. on September 12, 2001.

During a speech at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska, marking the 22nd anniversary of the attacks, President Biden stated, “Ground Zero in New York — I remember standing there the next day and looking at the building.”

He continued, “I felt like I was looking through the gates of Hell, it looked so devastating because the way you could — from where you could stand.”

However, C-SPAN coverage of U.S. Senate proceedings on September 12, 2001, confirms that Biden was in Washington, D.C. that day and gave a speech on the Senate floor. Senate records show that the Senate convened in the morning, followed by a classified briefing for all senators at 2:00 p.m. ET, Fox News Digital reports.

Biden also participated in a joint resolution vote condemning the terrorist attacks later that afternoon, as he was the Democratic manager of the resolution.

Moreover, Biden’s autobiography contradicts his recent claim, as it details his actions after the attacks. In his book, he mentioned heading back to the Capitol on September 12, 2001, without any reference to visiting Ground Zero.

A Gannett News Wire report from September 12, 2001, stated, “Delaware Sen. Joe Biden spent Wednesday exactly where he wanted — in the U.S. Senate.”

The White House did not directly address the discrepancies in Biden’s claim but pointed to his visit to Ground Zero on September 20, 2001. Critics argue that Biden’s visit to Alaska on the 9/11 anniversary, instead of any of the attack sites or the White House, is a departure from the tradition observed by previous presidents.

Vice President Kamala Harris attended events at the National September 11 Memorial in New York City on the same day.
