Thirteen American heroes were killed in the Kabul Airport Attacks last week as they were helping Americans and Afghans escape from impending doom under Taliban control. First and foremost, we honor those brave men and women, and here are their names:

• Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Darin Taylor Hoover, 31, of Utah
• Army Staff Sgt. Ryan Knauss, 23, of Corryton, Tenn.
• Marine Corps Cpl. Hunter Lopez, 22, of Indio, Calif.
• Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Rylee McCollum, 20, Jackson, Wyo.
• Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Dylan R. Merola, 20, of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.
• Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Kareem Nikoui, 20, of Norco, Calif.
• Marine Corps Cpl. Daegan William-Tyeler Page, 23, of Omaha
• Marine Corps Sgt. Johanny Rosario, 25, Lawrence, Mass.
• Marine Corps Cpl. Humberto Sanchez, 22, Logansport, Ind.
• Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Jared Schmitz, 20, of Wentzville, Mo.
• Navy Hospital Corpsman Max Soviak, 22, of Berlin Heights, Ohio

Back here in the United States, only one day after President Biden caved in to the terrorists and fully pulled out of Afghanistan, Democratic Speaker Nancy Pelosi blocked the names of those 13 brave men and women from being read on the floor of the House of Representatives.

Florida Republican Representative Carlos Gimenez tweeted “how badly do Nancy Pelosi and the House Democrats want to cover up this Afghanistan debacle? They just blocked Members of Congress from reading the names of the service members who sacrificed their lives in Afghanistan last week. Don’t you think our military deserves better?”

Gimenez was not alone in his disgust of the Democrats’ reprehensible behavior. Republican Representative Greg Steube, also from Florida and a combat veteran tweeted, “House Democrats just refused to recognize Republican veterans on the House Floor to read the names of our fallen service members in Afghanistan. That’s how far out nation has fallen.”

Wounded combat veteran from Afghanistan and Florida Republican Brian Mast told The Floridian of the House occurrence, that “during a Republican-only ‘moment of silence,’ Speaker Pelosi refused to recognize them to ‘read names or bring up bills or anything.”

“We gaveled in, had a prayer, said the Pledge of Allegiance, took a moment of silence with pretty much all Republican veterans, then asked to be recognized to read names and bring up Afghanistan legislation. They did not acknowledge us, and just closed the House down” added Congressman Mast.

As the Washington Post writes, many of the slain service members were in their infancy in 2001, the year the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks triggered the U.S. war in Afghanistan, bookending their lives as the American effort comes to a close.
