Wealthy Hollywood Stars Push Another Energy Policy That Will Make Lives of Ordinary People Much More Expensive

Whenever there is an opportunity for Hollywood A-listers to make the lives of the ordinary folks who spend money to see their films and programs more expensive, they never hesitate to take it.

And by that we mean, whenever there is an opportunity for these wealthy, massive hypocrites to oppose fossil fuel projects that could bring cheap, plentiful energy to market, they hop on board.

Case in point: Actors Mark Ruffalo, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ben Stiller, and others have joined to call for the Royal Bank of Canada to defund an important gas pipeline project that would no doubt either lower or maintain at lower prices heating costs for Canadians.

Fox News reports:

Hollywood stars have joined together to write a letter to City National’s parent company, the Royal Bank of Canada, to defund the Canada Gas pipeline.

The letter, signed in solidarity, urges the Royal Bank of Canada to “withdraw support from the Coastal GasLink pipeline, effective immediately.”

The letter goes on to say, “City National Bank’s parent company Royal Bank of Canada is bankrolling the climate crisis and violating the rights of Indigenous Peoples.”

More than 65 celebrities, including Mark Ruffalo, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ben Stiller, Scarlett Johansson, Taika Waititi, Jane Fonda, Susan Sarandon and Robert Downey Jr., banded together to send the letter to City National Bank’s parent company.

City National Bank has been dubbed as the “Bank of the Stars.” The institution acquired the Royal Bank of Canada in 2015.

And of course, as these out-of-touch multimillionaires always do, some of the actors put together a video to ‘raise awareness’ of the issue with a wonderful hashtag campaign #NoMoreDirtyBanks.

They should have made a video that could have gone along with these hashtags: #SayNoToAffordableEnergy; #NoMoreFlyingOnPrivateJets; #SacrificeForInflation; #WeDoNotCareAboutWhetherYouCanPayYourMortgageOrRent.

And do you know what is more violative of the “rights of Indigenous Peoples”? Making them pay far higher prices for gasoline, electricity, and natural gas, because that is the result of these insane war-on-fossil-fuels policies Hollywood elitists routinely push.

Adding to the tone-deafness of this #BringOnMorePoverty campaign is the fact that these morons are pushing to sack a pipeline at a time when oil and gas prices are at historic highs, thanks in large part to the left-wing anti-energy policies of their like-minded leader of the free world, Joe Biden. While it’s no biggie for DiCaprio or Johansson or Stiller or Downey Jr. to pay seven or eight bucks a gallon for gas in California, it is a massive deal for the 99.9 percent of the remainder of the state’s population — the decidedly non-multimillionaire class. Ditto for Americans living in other parts of the country.

But the really galling thing about this ‘campaign’ is that American actors and actresses are stumping to kill a pipeline project in another country. It’s bad enough they hop on private jets to attend a #HopeYouRemainPoor event in America, but shouldn’t Canadians decide this issue for themselves?

And haven’t they? According to a statement, Coastal GasLink, the pipeline company, indicated that Indigenous Peoples are on-board with the project because it will generate revenue for their communities.

“Coastal GasLink recognizes that Indigenous reconciliation and addressing climate change are essential to creating a better, more sustainable world,” the statement added. “We would encourage everyone interested to take the time to understand all the facts and the important role Indigenous communities have in developing and building the Project” [emphasis added].

If this current crop of Hollywood elitists and their leftist hypocrite allies were more prevalent last century, literally all of our great infrastructure projects like the Hoover Dam, the network of power lines connecting the country, water treatment facilities, and highways would never have been built. They would have been tied up in courts for decades because it’s more important to virtue signal on behalf of “Indigenous Peoples” than provide them with electricity, running water, and the ability to power their lives affordably.

These people believe they are doing humanity a great service. They’re not. All they are doing is assigning more people to poverty by driving up the cost of living.

It’s despicable that they don’t care about that.
