Top Dem Megadonor Sticking With Biden Amid Calls For Him To Drop Out

As many donors and top Democrats continue to abandon ship on President Joe Biden there are some who are sticking with him.

Billionaire real estate heiress Amy Goldman Fowler is standing by the president, as one of the top donors to the Democrat Party.

“I continue to support President Biden’s re-election effort and I am making my maximum contribution to his campaign today,” she said to The New York Times.

The billionaire has given more than $27 million to Democrats in her lifetime and she said she is going to give another $400,000 to the president’s campaign.

“You probably have not heard of Amy Goldman Fowler, but she is a *way* bigger donor than people you have heard of,” New York Times reporter Teddy Schleifer said. “A lot of ink gets spilled in this business on mega-donors who are more bark than bite. This one is the precise opposite.”

But not every massive donor has the same sentiment.

Abigail Disney, granddaughter of Roy O. Disney, said in an interview with CNBC that she can no longer support the president.

“I intend to stop any contributions to the party unless and until they replace Biden at the top of the ticket.  This is realism, not disrespect. Biden is a good man and has served his country admirably, but the stakes are far too high,”  she said. “If Biden does not step down the Democrats will lose. Of that I am absolutely certain. The consequences for the loss will be genuinely dire.”

“We have an excellent Vice President.  If Democrats would tolerate any of her perceived shortcomings even one tenth as much as they have tolerated Biden’s (and let’s not kid ourselves about where race and gender figure in that inequity) and if Democrats can find a way to stop quibbling and rally around her, we can win this election by a lot,” she said.
