The World Watches Afghanistan in Horror as Biden Says ‘I Stand Squarely Behind my Decision’

As the world watched in sadness and horror as a two-decade long war to bring stability to  Afghanistan was tumbled in mere days, President Joe Biden was silent. When he finally emerged, having the audacity to admit he was ending a vacation from Camp David early, his words were equal parts insulting and pitiful.

Biden showed no remorse for his actions: “I stand squarely behind my decision” said Biden during his address to the nation on Monday. “After 20 years, I’ve learned the hard way that there was never a good time to withdraw U.S. forces. That’s why we’re still there, we were clear-eyed about the risks, we planned for every contingency. But I always promised the American people I would be straight with you” Biden continued.

Fox News reports the Trump administration had also negotiated terms of a US troop withdrawal from Afghanistan “by May 1. Trump even considered withdrawing troops from the region before leaving office.” However, it’s how Biden left Afghanistan. In complete and utter shambles.

In a written statement released Sunday, former President Trump called on President Biden to “resign in disgrace for what he has allowed to happen to Afghanistan, along with the tremendous surge in COVID, the Border catastrophe, the destruction of energy independence, and our cripples economy.”

In a statement Monday, Trump said, “Afghanistan is the most embarrassing military outcome in the history of the United States. It didn’t have to be that way!” In a separate statement, Trump addressed Biden’s specific mistakes. “Can anyone even imagine taking out our Military before evacuating civilians and others who have been good to our Country and who should be allowed to seek refuge?”

“In addition, these people left topflight and highly sophisticated equipment. Who can believe such incompetence? Under my Administration, all civilians and equipment would have been removed” Trump declared.

In Biden’s address, he admitted, “the truth is, this did unfold more quickly than we had anticipated.” He continued, “we gave them every chance to determine their own future. What we could not provide them was the will to fight for that future” said Biden.

“How many more American daughters and sons should fight for Afghanistan, when the Afghanistan military won’t?” Biden questioned.
