Ted Cruz: Merrick Garland Is 'Angry' And Wants To Indict Trump

Sen. Ted Cruz speculated during an interview with Fox News’s Sean Hannity Monday evening that Attorney General Merrick Garland will indict former President Donald Trump because he “hates him” and is “angry” he was denied a U.S. Supreme Court seat during President Obama’s tenure.

While he doesn’t believe that Trump has done anything remotely warranting the current federal probes against, Cruz predicted that Garland will essentially invent a politically motivated crime to charge the former president with.

“Mark my words: I believe Merrick Garland will indict Donald Trump. He wants to indict Donald Trump because he hates Donald Trump. He hates him, he’s angry. Merrick Garland is angry that he wasn’t confirmed to the Supreme Court. He wants to indict him,” Cruz told Hannity.

“I think the plan was to indict him over classified documents, and then he got the enormous problem that Joe Biden seemed to have classified documents everywhere, including in the garage by his old Corvette. I don’t think Merrick Garland will indict Donald Trump over classified documents,” he said.

“Here’s my prediction: he’ll indict Trump over quote ‘obstruction of justice’ for hiding the classified documents… He’s going to create a crime about a non-crime,” the Texas Republican added.

Following the finding of classified documents at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, Garland swiftly issued a series of subpoenas, compelling Trump’s staff and associates to provide testimony regarding their role in removing documents from the White House during the final days of his presidency.

Previous reports have affirmed Cruz’s belief that a criminal indictment against the former president is imminent.

Allegations of politicization within the Justice Department have been a recurring concern for Garland, particularly since Republicans gained control of Congress earlier this year.

In the coming weeks, special counsel John Durham is scheduled to testify regarding his report, which suggests that the FBI hurriedly initiated an investigation into Trump over phony allegations of collusion with Russia during the 2016 election.

Separately, Fox News has reported that the whistleblower who made allegations regarding then-Vice President Joe Biden’s alleged participation in a criminal bribery scheme with a foreign national has been identified as a “highly credible” FBI confidential source.

The individual has been actively involved in various investigative matters since the Obama administration, the report said.

The whistleblower claims that the FBI possesses a particular document known as an FD-1023 form, dated June 30, 2020, that allegedly contains explicit details provided by a confidential human source.

According to the information outlined in the document, it is alleged that during his tenure as vice president, Biden was involved in a criminal bribery scheme amounting to $5 million with a foreign national. The alleged purpose of this scheme was to exert influence over policy decisions.

There is no indication, however, that Garland is seriously investigating anything linked to his current boss, now-President Joe Biden.
