Teacher Resigns After Being Caught on Video Wishing Christian Conservatives Would 'Get COVID and Die'

When Christians and conservatives say they believe that their political opponents wish they were dead, that’s not hyperbole, as one leftist teacher has proven again, albeit at great personal cost.

A hidden camera caught a teacher identified as Lisa Grimes, of the Colleyville Middle School in North Texas, telling some colleagues that Christian conservatives ought to “get COVID and die” after becoming upset about political opposition to ongoing restrictions related to the pandemic, going on to blame them for prolonging the pandemic in the first place.

“We have a political system that will not allow us to [inaudible] so we’re vaccinating like the flu, which is, you know, get the flu vaccine if you want but you can’t — don’t ‘tread on me,'” Grimes says in the video. “But it’s too late. It would have had to have been immediate. If we would have done it immediately, it’d already be gone.

“That’s what’s frustrating. The rest of my life is impacted because of politics? Because of conservative Christian crap?” Grimes added. “I’m telling you, those conservative Christians, they need to die — they need to get COVID and die.”

The incident was first reported by conservative talk host and pundit Dana Loesch.

“The video was provided by a family of the school who asked to not be identified at this time,” she wrote on her site.

The Blaze went on to note:

Grapevine-Colleyville ISD announced Wednesday Grimes had been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.

GCISD School Board President Jorge Rodriguez also condemned Grimes for her remarks, explaining the school board “strongly rejects the expressions” that she made in the video.

On Tuesday, the district sent out a statement to parents:

This afternoon, GCISD learned about an online video of a Colleyville Middle School teacher talking to two colleagues in a high-traffic area on campus. The sentiments expressed in the video do not reflect the views of GCISD or Colleyville Middle School. The teacher has been placed on administrative leave. The District will continue to investigate this incident.

The following day, Rodrigue added:

The GCISD School Board strongly rejects the expressions made by one of our employees in a video widely circulated online. The Board supports the decision to place the employee on administrative leave until the School District completes its investigation. GCISD continues to be committed to provide a safe and caring learning environment for all our students.

But in another statement on Thursday, the school district announced the teacher “will not be returning to the classroom.” And while her departure came through resignation, Grimes “was undoubtedly pressured to leave because the story had generated national attention,” The Blaze added.

No doubt.

“The Colleyville Middle School teacher whose words were captured in a widely circulated online video has resigned and will not be returning to the classroom. GCISD is working to ensure that her students experience as little disruption in their learning as possible,” the statement said.

“The views expressed in that video do not reflect the opinions or the professionalism of Colleyville Middle School and other GCISD employees. It is inexcusable to wish harm on those with whom we disagree,” the statement added.

There is no more of a hateful person in America today than a ‘tolerant liberal.’
