Support For 'Traditional American Values' Has Tanked Over Past Few Decades: Poll

There is no better gauge indicating just how damaging left-wing cultural influences have been on America over the past couple of decades than a new survey published over the weekend by The Wall Street Journal.

The poll, which was released on Monday, surveyed American respondents on their views on patriotism, religious faith, having children, and other traditional metrics. The results showed that only 39 percent of Americans consider their religious faith very important, and only 38 percent consider patriotism very important.

The WSJ compared these numbers to the first time it conducted the poll in 1998, revealing a significant decline in the importance of traditional American values. At that time, 62 percent of Americans said religion was very important to them, and 70 percent said patriotism was very important.

On the other hand, the poll found that a majority of respondents feel that the U.S. needs to do more to promote equality between men and women, as well as accepting people who are gay, lesbian, or bisexual, and promoting racial and ethnic diversity in business and universities, the outlet reported.

However, the poll revealed that a significant plurality of respondents believe American society has gone too far in accommodating people who are transgender, with 43% of participants holding this view. Less than a quarter of respondents said that the U.S. has achieved the right level of accommodation for transgender individuals, while 33% believe society needs to do more to accommodate them.

About half of the respondents had a very or somewhat unfavorable view of being asked to use transgender pronouns, while only 18 percent had a favorable view, and 32 percent said they were neutral on the issue.

“The poll is only the latest in a series of surveys that have found a drop in patriotism or other related values in the U.S.,” Fox News reported, citing the survey’s findings.

According to a Fox News poll conducted in 2022, pride in the country had decreased by 30% compared to 2011. Additionally, a 2019 WSJ/NBC poll found that millennials did not share many of the same values as older generations in the U.S.
