Say What? NBC News Poll Claims Americans More Concerned About 'Threats to Democracy' Than Inflation

In yet another example of how the mainstream media uses polling to drive Democratic political narratives rather than actually gauge the public’s responses to certain issues, NBC News published a poll over the weekend that made a remarkable claim.

Remarkable, as in absurd.

Touted as “a major new poll,” the survey asserts that “threats to democracy” are far more important to most Americans than putting fuel in their vehicles and food on their tables amid historic inflation under Joe Biden and a Democrat-controlled Congress.

Poll respondents were asked: “What do you think is the most important issue facing the country?” And while “threats to democracy” were atop the list, supposedly, there was no definition of what constituted a “threat.”

But okay, if you take the survey at face value, “inflation” along with “jobs and the economy” top ‘democracy concerns’ 24 -21 percent. Also not good for Democrats: Far more Americans appear to be worried about the chaotic open-border situation than the Supreme Court’s abortion ruling in June.

The American Wire adds:

According to the poll, three-quarters of voters — 74% — say the county is headed in the wrong direction, a record 58% say America’s best years are behind it and 61% say they’re willing to carry a protest sign for a day because they’re so upset, NBC News reported.

Despite the negative outlook of the nation under Democratic rule and Biden’s dismal approval rating, the survey had plenty of good news for the party. Citing the June Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade, the results suggest Democrats have closed the enthusiasm gap.

“The Supreme Court ruling has shaken up the electorate,” said Democratic pollster Jeff Horwitt, who conducted the survey with Republican pollster Bill McInturff.

But that said, abortion is way down on the list of concerns, tied with “guns” at 8 percent — so how that demonstrates ‘shaking up the electorate’ is anyone’s guess. Also, other polling has shown that Republican voters, already enthused about tossing Dems out in the midterms, are even more jazzed about voting following the political raid on Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate earlier this month.

The poll had its usual left-wing backers but others took a more rational approach to the results.
